I saw this today, some of you may find his concept interesting: The Ghosts of World War II's Past

That is very cool. Quite thought provoking. The Kangaroo in the ad did make me luagh for some reason.

Clever... most of it works pretty well though I'd have preferred a better blend from the old to the new - too simply overlaid imho - that's just being picky, mind you...

Staring at that event horizon is a dirty job, but someone has to do it; something's going to come back out of it one day...

Thanks for the link, Dave. Those were really cool and some of them were rather haunting.

I'm fascinated by the idea, shown in many of those photos, of restoring a building that's lost its facade or part of its structure. It seems like more of a European sensibility in my mind. I picture our American way of doing things and wonder why they didn't just knock it down and start over! Not that I think they should have, it just seems one of those ways in which Europeans and Americans really do think differently.

I don't know George... try looking at shots of London 1945/1960's/now...

Mind you, I remember a huge facade on a major junction very near St Paul's Cathedral, with nothing but the front (which was listed) and no building behind it - very odd... not uncommon for the UK...
