That's darn nice work!  I'm keeping up with cars at the moment rather than working on the EB-0...looks like the Stew-Mac template will work with my T-bird pickups...need to order it and the router bit to match.

Chip does nice work. Here is a pic of his "Notacaster" built from a butcher block that his wife bought at a grocery store when they were remodeling their meat department. Neck was made from some of his sawmill work ... he harvests his own wood. The "B" shape represents his last name. It is his personal guitar.

That is soooooooooooooooooo cool ! I like it a lot  :)

Here is my next project for Chip except I am going for a dyed Rosewood board instead of this Ebony one. A chromed handrest or a Black powder painted one, or polish the heck out of this brass one and let it turn Green? The decision I have to make is a Flamed Maple cap or not and what color? I'm a thinking clear with a translucient Yellow on the cap if I go with a cap or a Red Cherry body with Red highlights on the flamed Maple covered by the clear Yellow. Maybe a black pinstripe under the clear for separation. Maybe just leave it natural Mahogany with no cap?

I have been gathering parts for this one for two years. Let me know what you all think.

The top... do you want her to stand out or blend in with the flock, Bill...? depends on what you've already got and what you fancy...

I went for a crazy myrtle burl, bookended, on my mahogany T'bird rebuild... colours are going to be amber trans with a cherry trans burst...

SD, that's gonna be a beautiful bass!

(And I'm looking forward to the rehabbed PC Bird as well.)

I vote no cap, that's too beautiful a specimen of mahogany to cover up.  I'm also partial to nickel over chrome with mahogany, second choice mellowed brass.  I'm sure it will look great whatever you do.  Looking forward to seeing it.

that is a nice peice of mahogany.  should sound great.  Mahog will give it a vintage look for sure especially with a see thru color.  .  a nice burl (redwood burl  is awesome) on the thin side will keep the sound character of the mahog but a more modern boutique bass look but usually no color added.   is the neck going to show through?

it will show between the neck pickup and the bridge pup and a little between the bridge pup and bridge. the laminations will show on the neck back and back of the headstock.

thinking about having the fiddleback/tiger stripe maple i have cap the back to cover a couple of chambers then finish it black or heavily tinted on the sides with all natural and an ebony none inlayed headstock cap to match the pickguard. the truss cover will say "Chip Brauer Custom".

Redwood Burl over maho!

It looks great as is!  But it's always a matter of taste for the builder.
