I will be making a rare live performance this Saturday (TOMORROW as I am writing this!), April 10, 2010, at NOON Pacific Time! I posted about it in the HEY HIERONYMOUS thread (thanks Denis!), but wanted to give it its own post because it will broadcast live via the internets!!! Use the following link:

http://www.dharmarealm.com/live.php

I will be playing with my regular drummer Greg DeGuglielmo - he flew out from Boston for the show! I will be playing my Alembic Stanley Clarke Bass and Moog Taurus 3 bass pedals.

It's going to be interesting - we are scheduled to play for an hour, just the two of us, hopefully we can keep it interesting! We haven't really had a chance to rehearse, we played for about 15 minutes yesterday but it was really just warming up and making sure things were working. Hopefully we can rehearse for a couple of hours tonight. There will be a lot of improvisation, plus hopefully some of our compositions like , , , , and hopefully .

Hope you can join us!!! If not, I eventually hope to post video and/or audio.

Well, it was a lot of work but the gig was fun! Not many people showed up, not sure how many people tuned in via the internet. We had some problems with the live feed - it may have frozen part way through. I made an audio recording with my Tascam DR-1 but the balance isn't that great - drums are too loud! Gonna work with it though.

Here's a recording from rehearsal the day before, recorded with the Tascam: - Moog Taurus 3 bass pedals and Alembic Stanley Clarke through Z Vex Mastotron distortion (plays nice with active basses) and Small Stone phaser later on - spontaneously composed by myself and Greg DeGuglielmo who also plays drums on the track.

Glad it went well...

Missed this completely... long weekend away and only just back...

If research was easy, it wouldn't need doing...
Staring at that event horizon is a dirty job, but someone has to do it; something's going to come back out of it one day...

Thanks to anyone and everyone that tuned in, and no problem to those that didn't/couldn't - it was definitely an interesting experiment, and the audio tracks turned out a little better than I thought - here's an excerpt from the first thing we started warming up with:

And a couple of shots from the video:

So I thought I would update this thread with some more soundclips. Two recordings were made - one with the video camera (flash video with low quality mp3) and the one I did with my Tascam (WAV). Both recordings have problems - the high end sounds terrible on the video camera, and the Tascam didn't record the bass or Taurus pedals well. So I stuck 'em together! I could probably continue to experiment with different EQs on the two tracks, but here's what I've come up with so far:

I am thinking of overdubbing bass and Taurus onto the Tascam recording of rays of sound to see how that turns out.

Here's how the video camera recording sounded by itself:

The first part I'm basically checking to make sure everything works, then we kept playing.

Great job, I really enjoyed 8 Echo Drive, nice hearing it live.
