Genes son published a comic that appears to be traced from the Manga Bleach & Hellsing.

Pretty lame. I can't believe that the publisher did not realize the resemblance to Bleach which has been a top ten graphic novel / manga in the US for years as well as being on Cartoon network.

According to the cover, Incarnate (the comic in question) was written by Nick Simmons and illustrated by a guy named Nam Kim.

I'm not a comic fan and don't really know one way or the other, but this whole thing seems a little off.

QuoteSimmons is credited with the script and pencils on the book, with additional art credits for Nam Kim, Ben Harvey, and Shi Hua Wang of Studio IL.  S.

I believe that Simmoms did the script & pencils & Kim did inking and or color.

From Simmons-
Quote"Okay.. now looking at some of these photo comparisons, I can see why a few people are up-in-arms. I can tell you right now these are all purely coincidences. I never even heard of Bleach! Who would name a comic after laundry detergent? When I channel my energy when drawing my book sometimes I can pull stuff in that I never seen before. It's like i'm possessed when I start thinking and drawing. Perhaps I just got on the same wave length that all artists share. My dad just called and said I have a real case against all this slander. If Facebook doesn't give into my demands soon there's going to be hell to pay. Now, I have to damage control on another site - more people being mislead. Now I have to deal with this and my book's deadline. I'm not sure how I can think and draw under all this pressure."

He certainly seems to be taking credit for the art?

You're right. I question the wisdom in doubling down like that.

He comes off as such a likable cool kid. I love Zaraki Kenpachi (character depicted) from Bleach, he is probably one of the most badass characters in comics. He's also featured in the video games series for PS3. Its not like no one knows who that is (kids).

I just can't imagine what he & the publisher were thinking. Its like he scanned or traced them they are so close. They also say he used the same dialogue in places. Someones also accusing him of stealing their work from Deviant Art, which has since been removed.

It does not seem like something he would do, but admitting to doing the art work is hanging himself.

Seems Nick is changing his story, he going from never heard of them to 'Paying Homage".

QuoteIncarnate creator Nick Simmons, whose publisher Radical Comics removed his books from sale last week after accusations of plagiarism (see "Radical Pulls Incarnate"), issued a statement through a representative to Comics Worth Reading.  The statement acknowledged "similarities" between Simmons' art and other material, but says he intended the swipes as an "homage."

"Like most artists I am inspired by work I admire," the statement said. "There are certain similarities between some of my work and the work of others. This was simply meant as an homage to artists I respect, and I definitely want to apologize to any Manga fans or fellow Manga artists who feel I went too far. My inspirations reflect the fact that certain fundamental imagery is common to all Manga. This is the nature of the medium."

it's a fine line between being influenced and  being a plagiarist
