Pretty good - an unusual cover... I've always thought that a rock cover of "The Sound Of Silence" would be interesting... sorta perverse...

Staring at that event horizon is a dirty job, but someone has to do it; something's going to come back out of it one day...

It's that Butcher Bro' connection...  spooky or what...  ;)

YSV always was a "chick" song - we used to take the P out of someone we knew by getting people to play this for him, as he truly was...

"Butcher Brothers"  ;D  It has a certain ring to it............   :P

I used a blank plank P exclusively in my post-punk days, mid-80's... palm-muted eighth notes with a pick, no mwah and no sliding harmonics. I just loved the feel of a fretless board under my left hand fingers (still do). And of course Sting was an influence.

I play a custom fretless at every gig on at least 3 or 4 songs that are suited. And I do the same with my Woody bass although 6 or 7 songs normally. I do this not because the sounds are that hugely different but because while they are different sounding they feel different and make me play differently. I think it was Uwe that made the point once that the best thing to do when playing a fretless is NOT to go looking for places to slide. Just play it as you would normally play and embelish with what the instrument gives you tastefully.

Images dont match but this is us playing the old stones number with me playing my Cargill fretless.

The first time I took my fretless out for a spin, I ended up at a jam night, and did "N.I.B." as the first song I played with it.  It worked out just fine, and was actually a lot of fun.
