Next life time I am going to be born sooner and I will marry June Carter! Thanks for the music while I was a kid.

Saw this on several music blogs I follow, Carl was one of my favorites in the 50s and 60s. Sad to see him go. I'm pleased that somebody else here recognizes him.

growing up in a small S.E. Kansas town (when we weren't moving as dad was career Navy) i got to listen to Billy Graham, Oral Roberts and the Grand Ol' Opry. the nearest TV station was about 80 miles away so it was fuzzy at best = lots of radio listening while i grew up.

he did start out an upright bassist.
