Great record that one, Before the frost. I gave it four points out of five in my review. Anyone interested can find it here http://www.vk.se/Article.jsp?article=300827
But you'll have to upgrade your Swedish först! Good luck!

I got the new Crowes' album the first day it came out, and as a fan, I feel it's a big letdown. Somebody needs to tell the Robinsons that it's time to lose the bong, hookah or whatever they're puffing on these days. The snap and energy of songs like "Remedy", "Go Faster" and "Could I've Been So Blind" has been replaced by lethargic, smacked-out hay rotters that belong on an album of Grateful Dead outtakes, or something by The Band. No wonder they give you the second album at no charge.
IMHO, of course ;D

I'm glad that this forum's previous obsession with anal sex has now found a worthy topic successor!

Hmmm...
Strangely silent from certain errr, umm - members on this.
I guess Mark is out for the evening?

Mark has never been one of the obsessed.

I've bought it, but haven't really listened to it yet.
We've taken too much for granted ... and all the time it had grown ...
From techno seeds we first planted ... evolved a mind of its own ...

the black crowes were generally liked more elsewhere than here in their hometown of atlanta. before fame struck they were just an average local band called MISTER CROWLEY'S GARDEN. the music was not very crowes like. they hooked up with a guy who i can't remember who made them them into whatever you want to call them today.(hippy throw rugs) :P the local indie hipsters  here saw that as a big sellout and that sentiment spread. kind of like GREEN DAY was damned as a sellout by the punk world.

now time has passed and the old detractors are gone and the crowes are embraced by the local fake hippy jam band community. alas...

Bought the Cabin Fever DVD yesterday.
It shows how the band recorded the Before the Frost/Until The freeze album live before an audience in an intimate setting at Levon Helm's place.

This DVD tells me that The Black Crowes is the best band in the world today, for me that is.
Man, what a band!

I agree with Mr. Lowend1

I saw The Crowes at the Fillmore & it was sure to be a good time with all the weed smoke in the air & Chris had on a t-shirt that said Smoke Weed or something.
The highlight was Chris serenading Kate Hudson in the balcony with his song Katie from his solo album.
Then towards the end they did an acoustic set & I swear they must have all shot smack as the roadies set up the stage for it.
They did a few songs & each one was slower & more boring than the last. Then they announced that they were gonna play s'more electric toons & we all cheered but damn if they didn't continue on with s---l---o---w fokking songs!!!
They didn't even do Hard To Handle!
I walked out completely BUMMED & swore I'd never go see 'em again.
