I've played one in a store. Looked nice but did not have the EB-1 sound.

Price of this one looks high to me, IIRC the one I played was well below that.

Yeah, I have to admit I got taken in by the looks - I didn't really think about the sound. Thanks for the corrective. (I have a fretless Rickenbacker on my mind, so I never even considered this Univox for myself...)

I'm a real Univox fan, but I agree that it's overpriced.

I'd still love an original... I'm still unlikely to get the spare readies...

I don't think I've ever seen a fretless Ricky...

I've never seen one in person, but I've been lusting for one for a while. Here's the one I'm interested in:

It bears a striking resemblance to my fretted '76:

But I'm thinking it's going to go higher than I'm willing to bid. It was staying pretty steady with just one bid until today...

Check out Chris Brubeck's sound with one of those and tapewound strings---one of my favorite bass sounds...

I missed out on the fretless Ric - tried to snipe it for $1501.00, sold for $1502! I was on the road when the auction ended, and I really don't need it/can't afford it, so I don't feel too badly - someone else wanted it more than I did...
