Yes it is, but he did say there's sometimes a slight delay in removing it.

That is strange. When I posted last, it had been removed. Yet now it is up again without any visible change ...

In days of old, "Fred Kelly" would have had this bid up to $30K or so.

I guess if eBay and Gibson don't care, we shouldn't care.

I just PM'ed him, maybe we'll find out if Fred's still wreaking havoc with frauds. Maybe he's retired.

Fred's retired, since eBay made it so difficult to register new user accounts (ie. if it's a Yahoo or Hotmail type address they want your credit card details etc).  It was fun while it lasted.

As for me, I'm strugling to keep up with 2 or 3 forums at a time these days, so sorry for not spending time here at all.  Also, I'm all out of Gibbies too, I'm sorry to say.  Actually, I'm all out of Fenders too, having fallen in love with Bill Nash's work.
Cheers

Finally! Must have gotten pulled some time this evening. The shill (or stupidity) bidding was getting out of hand. It was up to $1200! I don't know whether they check that deeply or just take a while, but I'm glad to see it gone. Fug that guy...

Nothing wrong with that. He makes some pretty cool basses. I personally like his work.

Still, you need at least one Gibby?

Trouble is, although we know what we are talking about, ebay don't know that we know.

Theres a thread on talkbass - "is this eb0 a fake/partially fake". The postings are about 50:50 yes no. (IMO it's not a fake, but has a very bad repair and poorly redone logo. However photos are bad, so you can never be 100%)

What do Ebay do in such a situation? Stop their valued seller selling his property? Or just pull anything that gets reported. there must be so many vindictive reports from people, and quite a few items reported by people who don't really know their stuff.

Ebay are between a rock and a hard place with such things. How are they to know? IMHO the best thing would be for ebay to include details of any reported items on the listing - if someone says it is fake, a note gets placed with the item, and previous bidders get the chance to remove their bid - seller gets a chance to remove their item (without being charged) - plus new bidders get to see that some people are concerned if the item stays up.
