The wife and I are going to see Roger Daltrey perform the Tommy album in full in a couple of months (no other Who members in the band, but pete's son is playing guitar),so we watched Tommy last night on DVD for the first time in a few years.  Because I've seen the movie so many times over the years (including at the cinema as a 15yo when it was first released), this time I focussed on the music rather than the visuals (apart from Ann-Margret's rack of course) and took notice of the basses John was playing - a triple pickup Flying V, a Thunderbird neck and pups on a sickle shaped body, and an EB-1 played upright on it's stand.

Yeah, he uses great basses there. The 'sickle'-bas is 'reissued' by someone.

If you take a look in some books you can see Entwistle with not one but two of those basses. One with a Fender headstock and one with a Gibson headstock. I guess it are different basses, but you never know.

Nope, that wasn't what he was playing in the movie.  The "sickle" was a full on sickle with Tbird pups and neck.

Uwe: Final proof that Clapton is God after all. He sure looks like Jesus in those shots.
