I think I saw a clip of Trevor Dunn (Trio Convulsant, Fantomas, etc..) on bass with Miho Hatori too... somewhere...

That singer in the Number Girl vid went on to form Zazen Boys.  Cool band - their sound is less indie and more prog (80s Crimson fans might like this)

Hmm, "avant garde", that's kind of a fancy catch phrase for "all things assinine" in my book .
Yeah, at some level I do find  some pleasure in all this. Then again, I was quite entertained by by all those old clips of people who thought shooting bottle rockets out of their asses was a good idea
