Mike will always be everybody's favorite Van Halen singer! I just listened to an audio interview with him yesterday and he cracked me up when he said something about the last VH tour - "I heard I WAS kind of on the tour!" referring to the fact that they sampled his background vocals for the shows. He always seemed like a cool guy. We won't talk about his live bass solos....

PS - I love that Wolfmother record, regardless of how derivative it is of old Uriah Heep, Zep, Sab, etc. They did it well!

Jack Bruce may have got carried away in his comments, but his point that Cream is a lot better than Led Zeppelin is valid, IMO.

I like a lot of Led Zep, but not a crazed fan by any means, saw them do their first LP in 69 at a 1000 seat club in Boston for 2 bucks, which I thought was great and still do, but as far as depth, singing, songwriting etc. The Cream were my band, I loved 'em and still do and still play their stuff. They had such a quirky English sound too, very original sounding band thanks in large part to Bruce's songwriting and singing along with Bakers great drumming and Clapton's playing. I don't think I've ever heard them play a bad song except for Lawdy Mama on Live Cream I and only then because it is the instrumental track from Strange Brew with Eric singing Lawdy Mama lyrics to it as an album filler.
