to me both are  oxymorons.  i like big frets, speed bump sized frets, infact. everytime i play a bass advertised with jumbo ferts they just seem too small. could be me, but can someone recommend a bass that has TRUE jumbo frets just so i can get that feel under my fingers. the frets on my tacoma olympia abg are fine but i don't know what size they claim to be. could it be an electric versus acoustic thing?

Jumbo usually refers to width of .100" or more. The medium when used with jumbo usually refers to medium height with jumbo width. So it's not quite an oxymoron. Unfortunately there's no uniform definition.

I'm not sure who has a true jumbo. The so-called jumbo frets on my MusicMan basses are little if any higher than the medium jumbos on my Fenders. OTOH I can really tell the difference when I play a tall fret that isn't jumbo width, like on most newer Gibson guitars.

yeah. i'm really thinking more about the height than the width when i think jumbo. thank you, sir
