Got a cool old school tone on this one. '89 4003S with flats and a pick. I played/sang everything but the main acoustic guitar track and drums. Inspired by the loss of a friend/co-worker last July. Very different for me. It's like an acoustic ballad with a big power chorus, but it's 100% from the heart.  :)

Thanks so much guys. I'm pretty proud of this one.

That's a touching song, Tom, albeit with the loudest "Bert Kaempfert click bass sound" I've heard in ages ("The bass player paid for the mix.")!  :)

Also love the (dis)harmony guitar leads, very Fripp/Belew, my proggie boy!  8)

Yeah, it's definitely up in the mix. And yes, I paid for it.  ;D

This was supposed to be a Nomadic Horizon song, but since we've been inactive (drummer's wife is a hospice nurse - Can't take any chances) it ended up sitting on the shelf. Then i started hearing all the guitar parts in my head and decided to just do it myself.

Oh come on Uwe this is miles away from Ladi Geisler.

Not to me, it ain't! It's the most prominent click bass I've heard on a current recording since German indie stars Wir sind Helden's 'Ballade von Wolfgang und Brigitte' (which I always loved - and not just for the bass), and that was released about 10 years ago and already "cited" that sound as a nostalgic element for a song about a group of former counter-culture people in a commune who have grown into respectable middle-agers/senior citizens:

It's not a knock. I like Bert Kaempfert, Wir sind Helden AND Nomadic Horizon - I'm the only person on earth who has CDs of all three! Prove me wrong.  ;)

Who says Germans have no humor?  ;D ;D

Pilgrim

Germans have lotsa humor(s)!

Humor. noun

(archaic or historical) Any of the fluids in an animal body, especially the four "cardinal humours" of blood, yellow bile, black bile and phlegm that were believed to control the health and mood of the human body.

(medicine) Either of the two regions of liquid within the eyeball, the aqueous humour and vitreous humour.

(uncountable) A mood, especially a bad mood; a temporary state of mind or disposition brought upon by an event; an abrupt illogical inclination or whim.
He was in a particularly vile humour that afternoon.

(uncountable) The quality of being amusing, comical, funny. [from the early 18th c.] She has a great sense of humour, and I always laugh a lot whenever we get together.

Ilan doesn't like Bert's music, now we know.

Actually, his stuff gets sampled quite a bit these days.  ;D

And I do like the Pinochet type with the sun glasses in the background at 1:15. Probably an extra from The Boys from Brazil - watch MOSSAD abduct him ...  8)
