Ok, this guy seems to have been on quite a journey, one where (s)he has not reached the final destination yet, but it sure goes a long way explaining why he was regarded as such a difficult person as a young man.

Reminds me of someone who once worked with us who went from being the grumpiest, ill-tempered man imaginable to a life-affirming, happy woman.

I believe his story and Paul and Gene's story of what happened during his stint in Kiss is of the kind that you'd have to slice the coin to find the truth.

I wasn't interested in the Kiss trivia at all nor do I believe that Bruce Kulick and Tommy Thayer earned/earns 550 bucks a week (or a comparable amount). Yes, if you're with Kiss and your name is neither Stanley nor Simmons, you're an employee, everyone knows that (and they're not the only band like that) - given the longevity of their various touring line-ups, the pay can't be that bad.

His absence from the public and his return now as obviously a changed (wo)man was what intrigued me. It must be horrible to wake up every morning and feel totally disconnected from what you see in the mirror. Reminded me of Thomas/Carola Kretschmer, Udo Lindenberg's (big in Germany and nowhere else) former lead guitarist who still sometimes plays with him (she's most a guitar teacher now).

Thomas Kretschmer (with Flying V):

Vinnie did gain some weight, didn't he?

Wow, I never knew he played with Dan Hartman prior to Kiss!

I wouldn't discount the possibility that the weight thing has something to do with the hormone treatment he must have undertaken/still undertakes. His voice and the way he speaks have become very womanly (I'm not using the word effeminate on purpose because it always goes with this here:  :gay: ), the tears too.

VV is a nut case, pure and simple. Sometimes a person is blessed with a ton of talent, but none of the ability to manage it. This is a good read from Bobby (not Bob) Rock's blog, relating his experience recording with Vinnie.
