Not to sound like Talkbass...but has anyone tried a Labella product called "Low tension flexible flats"?

Highlander

I've tried Roto Jazz Flats... been trying them for a decade or two now...

Er... no help, I guess, Pat... (not to sound too LBO, of course...) ;)

There have been a number of posters on TB who used the low tension Labellas. Not much follow-up discussion, but some of them have made positive comments.

Strung them on last night and went to a rehearsal...

Sounded good. Labella-like but nice highs and mids.

More Labella-like than TI like...nice "thunk"...but good sustain also.

Not floppy at all, but low tension...right now they feel like a keeper...B string was great even though it was a 118

Sort of like the good stuff I like about Labellas without the bad stuff(feeling like rebar, etc...). Definitely the most highly polished, smoothest set of strings I have felt.

B string seems to be "deader" sounding than the first four...of course, it could be a physical thing with flat wounds and 5 strings...

First 4 strings sound really good.

Never owned a 5er but I've heard that complaint before about flatwound B strings.

Last night on an amp it was not a problem...you notice it when practicing with head phones, though..

So I guess not a problem live...

It's why the bass player from Hall & Oates (forgot his name) would play his 5er with flats except for the B string, that was roundwound.
