The Outpost Cafe / Seattle's Museum of Flight
« on: December 10, 2019, 03:55:02 PM »

Should anyone's travels take them to Seattle, I'd highly recommend our Museum of Flight as a must see, it's beautifully done with a separate wing of Boeing history, WWI and WWII fighter aircraft, a large covered hanger for bigger planes and an inside hall with aircraft hanging as well.

Here's a few shots from a recent visit, it was a pleasant way to spend an afternoon (instead of the mall!)

Norden bombsight

B-52 controls

Some of the WWI aircraft

Some one has a sense of humor, if you note, here's the Fokker and it's chasing a Sopwith camel

A famous little fellow on the wing.

WWII

Some kind of Hellcat, I think  ;)

Hiyabusa, this one was put together using parts from 4 originals

Badass Corsair!

Jug!

787 POWER

Kenny no doubt knows about this

Big ugly fat f***er

Mr Pointy

Gibson Basses / I blame Uwe for this.
« on: October 10, 2019, 09:00:07 AM »

I'm blaming Uwe for this...…. Your Q80 is at fault, as is the Les Paul Oversize.
They'll be here next week, first non Thunderbird basses in my house in over two decades.

Gibson Basses / Fishy Bird

Interesting '90s Bird on Reverb, not sure about it, I think it's fishy aside from the incorrectly placed covers.

The Outpost Cafe / Pilgrimage Pt II
« on: May 11, 2018, 05:42:32 PM »

Here's a few the shots I got while visiting with Uwe, I'd highly recommend Rob's "The Gibson Bass Book" for much better descriptions (and it's super cool too!)

Thank you again to my very gracious host Uwe Hornung.

Somehow, I'm responsible for this bass......

Me with it, note the end of a shell case just below the tip of my thumb.

Sorry (not sorry!) but my off duty drag queenie self got to enjoy many very cool basses!
With the rare '86 Thunderbird II, so cool, I had a bass orgasim!

I really liked how this sounded!

A look down one row of basses, note that we're 23 floor above downtown Frankfurt.

A Zebrawood close up

Large headstock 1986 Thunderbird.

Three pickups and a Pearloid Firebird PG

EB-6s

It's quite something when you sit with something such as this.......

Non Reverse coolness!

A rare Gibson Goth.

Les Paul!

"Fat Bottom Girls".....

'74 Mustang Blue, I liked this bass' tone a lot too.

My dream short scale!

The Primavera

No pickup!

I really liked the Q80, as somewhat 7ender shaped objects go, this thing is pure badass looking and sounding - I kinda want one now!

Off duty drag queen meets SPCB (WCB1987).

And out in the lobby.........Just a few Explorers.

The Outpost Cafe / I make the Pilgrimage to Frankfurt!
« on: April 27, 2018, 07:15:34 AM »

A little later today I'll be on a 787 to London, then a short hop to Paris to see the sights.  Of course the real news is that after dealing with French art and architecture for a couple of days we'll take another short hop to Frankfurt, Germany where our good moderator/Gibson Bass GruppenKommader Uwe Hornung keeps Ze Collection. The Pilgrimage is on! Thunderbirds are GO!

Bass Amps & Effects / replacement speaker advice
« on: May 09, 2017, 11:39:06 AM »

I need to replace two speakers in one of my GK SBX cabinets, the original spec is 8 ohms with 400 watt power handling. The amp is a 700RBII, which is at 320watts @8 ohms.
So, would something like this work? Eminence Legend BP102 Legend Series 10" 200-Watt Replacement Bass Speaker 8 Ohm

It's only rated at 200 watts, am I going to push it harder than the remaining speakers and thus fry it?

 Thanks!

Supposedly from the Gibson West Coast Custom Shop.

I have no idea what these sort of things are really worth, I do think it's an interesting bass tho.......
