Here's the build thread
http://bassoutpost.com/index.php?topic=6241.0

Bodies are Honduras, not African, mahogany.  Nitrocellulose lacquer finishes, not polyurethane.  EX5 ThunderBucker pickups (single or twin) in 63, 66 or MAX spec.  God of Thunder original NR spec pick guard wityh finger rest.  Top mounted jack.  21 fret AP neck, Hipshot Ultralite tuners.  Original NR spec control cavity cover, CTS pots, etc.

Thank you. And what are other specs: nut width, fingerboard radius, string spacing at bridge? Are generic allparts necks reshaped? What is the average weight of such bass? How do these balance on a strap?
And I assume these come with maple necks, right?

Oh, I see: wrong forum :)

It's clear that some basses are marked up more than others!  As we've seen, high price doesn't guarantee high quality or value.

Lull basses are of exceptional quality. I have/had three Lull basses and all of them were top-notch.

Welcome to the party, Mike!

now that looks nice. what are the specs? (cataldo site is down at the moment)

I don't think someone who loves his P bass would be happy with the DC. While the extra pickup gives it more versatility it also makes it more finicky. Monday I just couldn't get it to sound like I wanted. It was either too bassy, too blurry, too brittle or too quiet. The P bass on the other hand just sounds good.

Well, I'm such a person :) However, I do not even try to compare these basses (or compare DC with J-bass or with Ric or with  MM or something else). DC plays absolutely in its own league.

I thought it had the look of a Hipshot type A.
Here's a natty

It's the same ABM bridge. These are inferior to Hipshot IMHO (due to the reason described earlier in this thread).

Dave, you're almost right :) All 8-ths  pieces and that central bridge piece that starts at 3:08 are recorded with the p-bass; the rest of the song with the DC.

I have a natural "Money" DC bass and use it extensively since the end of 2007 so that the finish is already worn in some places. I'd agree with everything mentioned above. The only weak place was the neck: I had to order the complete frets maintenance; also the rolled fingerboard edges turned out to be a valuable upgrade. Electronically-wise everything works perfect since the day 1: I never had to look under the control plate on the back so it still retains the protection film. Compared to my "reference" P-bass it sounds more like a wind instrument: that’s a strange peculiarity noticed by other musicians and sound engineers.

You may check these records done with DC. One song is recorded both on DC and a p-bass (“all the way up”, try to figure out which is which ;)

I've contacted MLCG several times for the last two-three weeks with no results. Btw, one of my questions was the better choice for TBII :)

I have a nice shot Mike Lull's prototype NR, it'll debut at NAMM,

oh, no... if he'll offer a fiver soon enough - I'm doomed :)

Ah, I can see off-topic is really among common decencies  here :)

I'll try to bump the thread back to its original rails though:

My dear metrical friend, stuck like I am among imperial measurement savages, I will dutifully centimeterize tomorrow when I'm back in the office.

uwe, you remind me Skipper a bit when you say so :)

actually the accents in my numerous questions shifted to the issue of measure from the presumably constant 20th fret, not the presumably various wooden tips of necks' bases. thank you

Brilliant! So I need an absolute value after all...

Dear uwe, could you please answer this question?

Thank you! Since we're on the same side of the pond, could you please give me the exact measure in millimeters as well? Also, do I understand it correct that you measured from the actual end of the fretboard (wood tip), not the metal wire of the 20th fret? I guess the length of a wooden tip beyond the 20th fret may vary on different birds...

...so the more actual measure will be from the metal wire of the 20th fret. could you please check this out? Vielen Dank im Voraus!
