Rickenbacker Basses / Re: 4003 Reissue Horseshoe Problems

Bending the shoes worked for me.  Not difficult to do at all - a nut, a bolt and two wrenches.  Instead of making the E and G louder, the focus is to move the shoes further from the A and D to make them quieter.  It was not difficult at all. I'm sure someone has documented the process on-line.  That's how i fixed mine (when i had it -sniff).

I'm not arguing for the sake of arguing.  This is my (and many others i know) experience as a working bassist who has owned many Rick basses.

No need to be offended. I still love Rickenbackers - Just much more challenging to find a good one - mix wise - than, say, a P bass.

There were ZERO issue with Jim Mouradians tech skills. He was one of the best.

I've owned 6 Rickenbackers.  2 had an E that could cut - a 72 and a Shadow - the rest washed out on stage.  I tried everything.  My tech was Chris Squiers tech - a Rickenbacker guru.  No shit.

That is the truth.  5 string Ricks are worthless.  Finding a 4 with a solid E isnt even easy.

If you DO get the crazy urge to sell, contact me.  I'll either talk you out of it or buy it.

I think you may have enough H22 Basses.  These things are getting pricey - I cannot afford that mistake again.  Food will always be more important though so you never know.

Thanks for sharing all of this.  Every time I've sold an H-22, I've instantly regretted it and bought another.  I cannot afford to make that mistake again. Amazing little basses and rarely do you see one that cannot be saved.

My H22

Why would you want a Harmony in a classic Fender color?

Any solid color treatment. I just chose LPB as an example.  I think it would look great with the binding and guard.

I think it would be great to see one in a classic solid color like Lake Placid Blue

Great basses, as you know.  Love to see a picture if you have one!

They all look the same - ha ha

It's an early one so it has the rosewood block tailpiece under the cover.  The other two rosewood block ones I have sounded the same as the '66 with the string thru metal tailpiece that looks like a cover.

I like the  rosewood block with the cover.  It's 'quick release' compared to the one piece string thru and I'm always for that option.  I also don't like the four large screws on the all metal  one.

That is exactly what i thought.  I've owned 3.  My current one has the string through metal cover (no block) and I couldn't tell a difference but I also prefer the block from a construction standpoint.

Does it have the wood block or string-through bridge?  Have you compared the two?  Any thoughts?

Gibson Basses / Re: New Gibson EB

I don't hate it but there is nothing iconic looking about it.  It looks like an amalgamation of many modern basses that, frankly, have little market share. Even at 1K, I think this will be another failed Gibson experiment with no resale value.

I'm very late to this thread as I seldom enter this area of the forum but I wish you a smooth treatment and full recovery.  This does not sound fun.  I am thinking of you and yours Bill.

Beauty!

I love my H22.  Had to buy 4 of them to learn not to sell it.  Expensive lesson.

I don't remember what color the HS is.  Broken or Unbroken - I'd rather have the better playing and sounding bass - real inherent value.  I was wondering it's $$$ value for my friend.  Again, i appreciate the input.
