Fifty grand for a restored Bronco?  I will pass.  Lots of fun stuff there.  I have always enjoyed Ted.  Good luck.

I would go to a hardware store or Stewmac and buy some Fiebing dye.  Then pry out those black dots and stick some pearloid ones in. Then wipe the board down with the dye and darken it up. String it back up and have fun.

I have mixed feelings on Let It Be Naked, as I had Get Back bootlegs for ages of the same stuff, and never liked the crummy overall sound of the Let It Be tracks to begin with.  Especially the intonation from hell Hofner crap sound. I liked the Spector stuff as it was as it all sounded bad.  But as a comparative, the sound of Instant Karma - which is arguable how much Spector actually did with that - is a much more listenable and actually good sounding reverb loaded track when compared with something like Awaiting On You All, which is sonically evil. George did do that remix that strangled off a hair of the reverb levels.  I think they were just so infatuated with working with the legend that they forgot their work always sounded better than anything he ever did.  Hell, Sonny Bono was a better Phil Spector than Phil Spector.

I am anxiously awaiting the De-Spectorized All Things Must Pass.  His production techniques were rancid. He was an undiagnosed mentally ill guy, and for that I feel sorry.  He was too big to hear the word no.

Lordy, I love a good mystery. This one popped up on Reverb, supposedly in Russia.  So, outwardly it looks like an odd old 82 with dots and binding and some obviously suspicious parts, like knobs and guard.  But the thing that caught my eye on this is it is sporting a CB decal, which only popped up on the all gold 82s. Those did not come with bullets and three bolts, and tragically did not come with rosewood.  So I would gather this might possibly be an 85 Fullerton parts dump bass.  Fun.

I think the new tracks are ok. I would not find them out of place on a Gillian lp.  My favorite Deep Purple stuff is still the first lp and Come Taste The Band.

I liked when vintage dealers were happy to sell you something for 5 times what they paid the guy who bought it at the garage sale, and not make you feel like you were in a magical museum run by baseball card collectors. Yeesh.

I suspect there are no fakers.  They are either the same person or a group that works together. The listings are all top dollar, or beyond.  They vary by amounts that are within reasonable haggling area.  If some sap impulse buys one, then the seller sends an email to the others along the lines of “I sold Frank’s overpriced Tele bass to some dope - everyone pull down the other listings now!” If somebody just had to have one of these Japanese dealer things, I would guess contacting one or more of the different sellers would start realistic off-eBay negotiations and all the ads would end anyway.

Dear Lord, I take all ebay Japanese dealer prices to be lunacy.  I am happy that the hoarding disorder is easing up enough that they actually put them up for sale in theory to come back across. For photos they are fantastic.  Kind of like that Olivia place - great photos, great stuff, daffy pricing.

As far as the one guitar/four listings vibe, there seems to have been a binge of custom shop hoarding that went on over there.  Lots of Fender custom shop stuff shows up over and over, with prices varying over and under a few hundo.  They are fishing for dumb guys with money.  Aren't we all? :-X

I have seen the clipped off Coronado bass decals but this one is pretty fun - mid 60s Telecaster guitar with a Precision's "Bass" stuck on.  The description is peculiar, but typical Japanese seller for ebay.

I think the only thing wackier is anyone going into the new and used Steinway business. Not exactly a line that will experience growth.

The thing that I have been finding curious and alarming is the number of higher end but nosebleed priced things getting put up on eBay from Japan. Most sit there on Fantasy Island but for ages that was a one way street.  Nothing ever went to Japan and was offered for sale to cone back. So while the prices are high they’re actually low for their market. It suggests to me the first wave of rats getting off a sinking ship.  And that ship is a vintage/high end guitar market that has been based on speculation for decades, and it’s sailing into a potential global recession with an aging, shrinking and soon dying market. Add 40 years of vintage ri and custom shop floating around, and even custom shop special orders being loads less, we got some fun times coming.
