DeArmond made guitars in the 60s? Are you sure? AFAIK they were just a pickup maker, and the first guitars under the DeArmond name were made in the late 90s after Fender bought Guild.

Dark Fire, Dusk Tiger. Are they getting these names from Chinese movies?

Sounds too gimmicky for me. Looks gimmicky too. Maybe there's a market for high tech guitars, all I know is that I'm not in it.

I just want them to sand out all the lemur scratches on their madagascar rosewood boards.  :P

Fender did it.....  ;D

If it were a competitor, my guess would be PRS.   ;D

That's a different animal. Building an 18 string acoustic guitar with a soundbox that's light enough to vibrate and yet strong enough to withstand string tension is quite a feat. Not that an 18 string bass isn't a nifty feat, but when you're working with a solid body and a carbon fiber neck, it's much less of a challenge.

Remember that Gibson is part of the Rainforest Alliance and Henry J is very big into using sustainable woods. It's hard for me to believe that the company would do this deliberately, if they did it at all.

Sorry, I shouldn't have injected this into a serious thread.

I first read about it in one of Dave Barry's books, it came from one of his "I am not making this up" columns.

I saw something about it on the news last year, I think from the UK. A shop was selling cups of the coffee for some outlandish amount, like $100 a cup, with the proceeds going to charity. Sorry, I wouldn't buy or drink cat poop coffee even for a worthy charity.

That's supposedly for CNC fixturing, a place to hold the body while it's being routed.

Ferd Berffle was a character in an ongoing Laugh-In skit called The Farkel Family. Ferd was the Farkels' next door neighbor and best friend. All the Farkel kids had red hair and freckles and wore glasses, just like Ferd, and  nobody seemed to notice.

The wood in question is madagascar rosewood. And from reading this article it's unclear to me whether or not it's illegal.

My wifes US grandma was pregnant when they married, not with the husbands child. Her grandfather loved her gran and raised the child as his own, and the 2 sons they eventually had of their own... the family are all dark haired, except for my wife's dad, who was nearly a foot taller than all the rest, and blond... just the tip of the iceberg...

Did her grandparents have a neighbor named Ferd Berffle?  :-X

Maybe this could have been designed for lower tuning.
