They have priorities and this isn't one of them.

John Hall answered this way back at DP 2. He said that according to a certain trade magazine, all of the ten best selling basses were 4 stringers. He just wasn't prepared to use his already overloaded resources to make something that doesn't sell well.

IMO it's another case of what you read on bass forums not matching the real world.

Not always. A friend of mine in the Houston area plays a regular Legion gig, and he turned 80 last week. The guy who played steel guitar for him until moving out of the area recently is even older, there's a pic online of him playing in a band in 1947.

To each his own. But the idea that flats generally have a stronger fundamental is just not true. Having fewer highs doesn't mean you have more lows.
