And creepy. There is nothing more unsettling than ordained joy and happiness. It reminded me of The Book of Mormon musical somehow ... and lool & behold:

The creators of The Book of Mormon, a musical that satirizes the latter-day saint movement, cited Up with People as an inspiration for the cartoonishly joyous style of several of the songs in their musical performance, which sends up the clean-cut image of Mormon culture.

Up With People was definitely a pseudo-religious cult.

That was dreadful.

Nice too. Though I hate to say or write it, he really did play best on that Warwick Thumb in his later days, he was at his most expressive then. No wonder it was his go-to-instrument.

It still is one butt-ugly abomination of a bass.

I don't think it's ugly, it's one of the better looking Warwicks. He did play great on it.

"Lay your coconut on my tiki"?  Dave!!!

You never heard that one before? It's from German Afternoons (1986), one of his best later albums

I wouldn't. Most 4000's were routed for a neck pickup, and those are absolutely fine to convert, preferably keeping the original pickguard and harness intact and using a reisuue guard. But please don't take a dremel to a mint 1967 bass.

Did you miss the smiley in amptech's post?

Where's #3?  :)

I don't know enough about Muse or the Allmans, but agree on the rest.

Off the top of my head, Violent Femmes self-titled debut is far above any since.

Congratulations (belated)! Looks nice. Too bad you had to go through a dispute process.

Great starting price, wish I were in the market. It should sell quickly.

While I'm at it, here are some of my old favorite country trucker songs.

From the 50s, covered many times since.

Two from the 60s.

First, let's back up. Bro-country has absolutely nothing to do with trucker songs like Dave Dudley's Six Days on the Road. Not even remotely related. Trucker songs have always been a part of country music.

Bro-country is all about retarded goobers whose life supposedly revolves around partying in the back of their pickups with barefoot girls in cutoffs. Sung with fake accents.

You can watch old country shows on YT. Porter Wagoner, Wilburn Brothers, Bobby Lord and many others. You'll find that the hosts and guests talk the same way they sing. That's a big deal to me.

Whether bro-country or any other "modern" country, when I hear someone with no particular speaking accent put on a ridiculous exaggerated drawl, I cringe.

Bro-country in a nutshell: Maddie and Tae's Girl in a Country Song. Brilliant takedown. I saw them on the Today Show when this came out. Two Dallas teenagers with no noticeable accents.
