Not sure where to put this exactly (since it is an item up for sale) but I thought it was a cool project. What a salvage job!!

No connection to the seller. Just seems like the BIN (includes case and shipping) is pretty good for the package.

This is the kind of attitude I love from someone trying to sell something expensive:

PLEASE DO NOT BOTHER ASKING QUESTIONS., YOU KNOW WHAT IT IS AND WHAT IT CAN DO.

This project has been finished for a while but I am just now getting around to detailing the process and final result. It all started with a beater Epi Goth T-bird that i picked up for $70 on Craigslist. When the project started, the bass had the following issues:
1) Missing truss rod cover and pickguard
2) Bridge inserts lifting out of body
3) Input jack pulled thru the face of the control cavity
4) A couple of bad tuning keys

The electronics all worked and sounded fine, the neck was straight and adjustable, seemed like a minor fix. My original plan was to only replace the crappy tuners and install a Strat-type input jack in the face and call it a day. After watching some of the others do exciting builds/restorations/etc on this forum I decided to step it up a notch and create a bird that I hadn't seen before. Looking back, I wasn't prepared for what I got myself into but I'm glad that I attempted it. Overall i am happy with the final product despite the flaws, most of which are only obvious to me.

Anyhow, here is where it all began:

Gibson Basses / NBD: Epi Non-Reverse
« on: August 09, 2012, 08:51:31 PM »
While on vacation in San Diego last week, this popped up on Ebay:

It is in good condition (probably and 8.5 out of 10) and came with the original hard case. It cost just under $185 delivered  ;D Of course the seller shipped it like a pro. Just slapped a a UPS tag on the handle and shipped it. No boxing, not taped shut, incomplete address  >:( I think I am lucky that I didn't just receive an empty case and that the UPS driver went to each office at our building looking for me. All's well that ends well tho. It is in better condition than I expected, it's a cool color, and you can't beat the price. The neck is actually thinner than the other Epi NR that I own (formerly Dennis' bass). Same nut width, but not as fat front to back. I will be switching out the pickups, just not sure which direction to go with that yet.

Just looking to see if there are any forum-ites that are in the Anaheim area? There is a bass there that I am very interested in and the guy doesn't want to ship. Anyone available to help out?

Thanks

Gibson Basses / Epiphone Thunderbird Classic

This is causing a lot of excitement over at TB. If this is a neck-thru like the write ups claim, I will be buying a white one. I need some contrast to my 3 black T-Birds  ;D

Gibson Basses / Glitter Money Bass on Ebay

Only thing original is the body:

The color does nothing for me, neither does the price!

I have one of the thin-bodied, single pickup BachBird's and I'm getting ready to change out the pickup for a Gibson TBird Plus. My question is this: Did any of you change your pickup location when you swapped out your original pickups for upgrades? I know that Chromium changed his a little, but just wondered if anyone else did too. Is the Bach pickup in the same location that the original Gibson would have been, or is it the standard "sweet spot" of say a Pbass? The original Bach pickup sounds fine where it is located, but I didn't know if anyone had a better location for it. I just need to get this sorted out before I have the new pickguard made.

Thanks for any help.
Andy
