Great looking bass. I can't for the life of me, however, understand why many manufacturers who build hollow and semi-hollow basses don't make them in a long-scale version.

Ilan - that's a GREAT pic! You were in the presence of Rock and Roll Royalty. Kudos to you.

Bruce may be a fine pilot. He's not such a good driver...

According to the Blabbermouth article:

"The band .... revealed that none of its members and equipment were on board at the time"

"The incident occurred when Ed Force One was tethered to a tow truck ..... to be taken for refueling prior to flying over the Andes to Cordoba. On moving, the steering pin that is part of the mechanism that connects the ground tug to the aircraft seemingly fell out. As a result, the aircraft had no steering and collided with the ground tug, badly damaging the undercarriage, two of the plane's engines and injuring two ground tug operators, both of whom have been taken to hospital."

That would mean that the plane was at the gate and being dragged out by ground-crew, not under power from the flight-deck. Dickinson had nothing to do with this. I smell a substantial lawsuit coming against the Benítez International Airport for negligence .....

OT and I may be taking your comments too literally ..... but this:

..... white blues guys never get it right, imo.

..... is COMPLETE bullshit and a pretty wide and inaccurate generalization. Clapton (love him or hate him) aside, there are many excellent white blues players out there. It has nothing to do with race somehow associated with genre - nothing.

Oh yeah, agreed that TB is a bit of a sh!t-show most of the time!

But... hearing a lot of horror stories about reliability

Trust me, those horror stories are true. All of the PF series amps (350/500/800) are prone to issues. So is the SVT 7 Pro.

Dave - precisely. Maybe LOUD has changed up the tone-shaping of their amps but without a serious boost in QC, those amps will fail. Since moving production offshore, I've bought 3 Ampegs (2 heads and a combo) and flipped them all within a month. Sterile tone and reliability issues galore. IMHO, the glory days of Ampeg are a thing of the past.

IMHO the more expensive Squiers are better than the standard MIMs, the more expensive MIMs are better than the standard US-models.

Not sure I agree with that either although I will say that the Squier Vibe series are truly excellent instruments. The few that I've owned required very little in the way of setup or adjustment, stayed in tune, were stable and sounded as good as their Mex/American counterparts. Cheap components for sure but really well executed. I wouldn't touch a Squier Affinity series and I'm not completely sold on the Vintage Modified ones .... but there are some good ones out there. The MIM basses on the other hand have been a bit of a crap-shoot for me. Better overall build quality but I've had some real dogs. Right now, I have a 2010 MIM P which is a killer. Does it sound/feel better than it's Squier Vibe counterpart? Hmmmmmm.

Bass Amps & Effects / Re: Recommendations for a LOUD head?

EBS Fafner heads are consistently stable running continuous 2 ohm loads and have a TON of tone shaping capabilities. Mine can sound like an SVT, HiWatt, Eden, SWR ..... whatever. You can go hi-fi on steroids right to old-school, tube-driven.

Looks like the shop re-opened a few years back. Currently only one bass offering:

I've tried the Q-pounder and found it to be TOO much - of everything. DiMarzio is always a good choice but recently, I've tried the Fender '62 Custom Shop and it's awesome. I'm dropping one into my newly-acquired Mexi P in the coming few weeks.

Yeah - those were awesome J-bass clones back in the day. I always keep an eye out for old lawsuit Ibby's and Cimar's when trolling the used and pawn shops.
