I liked that WhoCares stuff. Interesting lineup, and Gillan sounds great! I read that they're doing a full album now, though I don't know how they're going to handle the loss of Lord, combined with Tony's current condition.

Beautiful bass, and I kinda like the black hardware on it too.  I get along well with TB+ pickups, and so I wouldn't be too hasty to swap 'em out.  I used Mark's approach on my Bach NR and stripped/re-housed the TBs in some of the nickel NOS 70s covers.  Worked great!

I was gonna suggest another option, if you really like the chrome look, is to maybe swap the bridge and tuners for chrome pieces, leave the black pickups, and just get some chrome rings for them.  GearHed289 did something like that on a later model cherry Les Paul bass, and I thought it looked fantastic.  Adds some sparkle, and kinda reminded me of the Triumph aesthetic with the black pickups and chrome rings...

What he said!  ;)

I have also followed Mark's lead and skinned a TB+ to slip into a 70s NOS chrome cover for another bass.

Oh man, yeah we had the Plymouth version - the Scamp - at a large apartment complex I worked at in my 20s. It was a handy little runabout for the 40 acre property.

If they use the same length neck, they'd have to fret it at different places to accommodate the different scale - right?

Exactly.

the money bass was boring, like looking at an ibanez.

I don't see that at all. I see the Ibanez stuff as streamlined Fenders. I think the Money bass is a really nice looking instrument, but I really dislike 24 fret 'boards. There really was no logic as to why the $ didn't take off. Possibly not enough people had a chance to try one out. TB+ pups are still kind of a well kept secret. And looking like guitar pups probably doesn't help.

Or as my Mum is keen to say; "There are always 3 sides to every story. Yours, his and the truth." Dont poke fat kids.

I say that all the time!

That bass is a turd. They should save their money and axe plans to build it immediately.  8)

A friend of mine has one of those bridges. They're nice, but I hate the look of the printed logo. Reminds me of something out of the 80s. Like when Steinberger put their name on the body (since there was nowhere else to put it...).

That's because it's a standard sized neck with a deeper body joint to make it short scale.

 ??? ??? ???

i was the tallest guy in my class until ninth grade. the bullies were always the little guys. after i crushed one i had no more problems. >:( i didn't get expelled either. ;

why they want to pick on big guys is beyond me.

I can relate. For me, it was always some little f#ck a grade or two older with his buddies backing him up. I didn't care. I fought what seemed like every day during grade school. Big Irish/Chicago family, lots of close cousins. If there was nobody to mess with, we beat the crap out of EACH OTHER. LOL! Got my first bass after 7th grade, and people started to outgrow me, so I focused on my playing.  ;)

That's an odd creature, but kind of cool. Definitely like the single pup version better, but a mud/P (split) combo might be cool. Seems like the neck is sunk pretty deep into the body.  :-\
