They were something different. Bowie method acting to be "just a band member". I liked Reeves G.' gutar style, somewhere between Yardbirds and Adrian Belew. And the Sales brothers did the most head-scratching "now we're leaving the meter, now we're back in" breaks I have ever had the pleasure to hear. Sibling telepathy.

Big Tin Machine fan here! And Bowie in general is an overall favorite of mine.

My only experience with "spiky" fret ends has been on my Fenderbird's Korean Mighty Mite all maple neck. Every winter... I bought a nice fret file from StewMac last year, and of course we ended up with a mild winter and no shrinkage. Not complaining, but I had hoped to file them down the next time they started sticking out.

Robertson (as well as Downey and Gorham) think Visconti has a distorted memory on how the album came about...

Exactly. DLR has had trouble pitching and remembering lyrics all through his career.
But I've seen him live several times and I can assure you it never bothered me one second. I only remember my big smile from ear to ear. He sure knew how to entertain an audience.
I saw VH with Hagar once and I wanted to leave early because I was bored...

Yeah, DLR is what he is. I've always "gotten" his schtick. He's a major factor in what made VH (the band) VH. Never had any interest in the Hagar stuff. I always thought he was a total cheese ball, aside from the Montrose stuff. Great pipes, but kind of a big dork.

I think they'll find out soon enough that getting her as a judge was a big mistake.  Of course, I don't plan to be watching anyway, just as most people with a taste in music won't be watching. 

I like to think I have "a taste in music" and this is one of the only shows I watch regularly. What can I say? I love a good train wreck! Plus it's fun playing armchair A&R guy/producer. I do start to lose interest as they wind down to the final 4-5 contestants. The show is probably toast at this point anyway. Tyler was great, but with him gone, and last man standing, Randy Jackson (great bass player BTW) leaving, they don't have much going on in the judging department.

Dang, those are some great songs, some of which I remember hearing as a kid in the late '60s and early '70s. RIP, Joe.

Interesting. One trick I've been doing for a long time now is, when I make a sandwich for lunch (which is almost every week day), I put everything on ONE piece of bread cut in half. That's a good 100 cals right there. I also drink tons of water, even when I'm boozing it up. Actually, ESPECIALLY when I'm boozing it up! I'm in much better shape at 48 than I was in my mid-late 30s.
