Gibson Basses / Re: Lakland Fenderbird?!?!

Skyline Decade with the upper horn partially obscured?

Nah - embedding is disabled, but the video is "Lifeline" by Papa Roach. The bass is visible at several points in the vid and it's clearly a NR bird style body. Besides, the Decade doesn't have a maple board.

Gibson Basses / Lakland Fenderbird?!?!

Clipped from a Papa Roach vid on YouTube. Looks like it has the pickups from the Decade...

I dig it! (except for the chrome egg)

I've never spent more than $400 for a bass... but I might make an exception here. Unfortunately, I have Custom Shop taste and an SX budget. *sob*
Uwe that must go home with you and reside next to the Explorer. I think the seller will move on the price - the economy is bad.

Fer Christ sake put on some pants man ! Bloody horrible that was ! I played double in college for a bit just to try it. never had a fretless bass guitar till a few years ago when I found this, a 70's fender fretless neck with suspect body. I paid 400 for it at GC, it is a great sounding bass, I use it for the Bad Co. stuff we do. I have  a great respect for Boz now !

You'll have even more respect for Boz if you try playing the Bad Co on an old Ampeg Scroll Bass! Talk about a log for a neck!

After the big pig ate that print, I was expecting to see little bits of photograph come out the other end.

I'll echo what others have said - do it well or "just don't do it".
Don't be a Wishnevsky.

It was bound to happen. Heino as a subject in the Outpost.  :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[

My apologies, Uwe. I didn't mean to open an old wound. Even as a fan, I had no idea. Apparently Ritchie was able to squash this "Nur Deutschland" cover before too many were pressed. I guess the rift with Gillan started earlier than I thought...

If you want a steady supply of album covers from great to bizarre, try the LP Cover Lover blog.

That's truly a wonderful resource, Dave. Thank you. Just as I was running out of ways to make poor use of my free time. ;D

It was only a post... now it's a subject. You seem almost repulsed by this, Uwe. How come?

And why didn't you yanks promote them to stadium superstardom like you did with Foghat for Chrissakes?!!!

Ummmm... because Foghat were a great band, especially live. They were the perfect stadium band for the mid 1970s. Sorta like Status Quo with personality (sorry, Uwe)
It surprises me that I've NEVER heard of these guys, but at first blush they don't sound like anything even remotely special. The songs remind me of the stuff you'd hear from "the rock band" in a 70s made-for-TV movie. I could live without the cheesy synths... Mellotron, isn't it? Seriously, there are hundreds of these bands that recorded back then and went nowhere. Angel. Legs Diamond. Piper, Starz, Shooting Star, Moxy, Goddo, Detective - and those were the ones who should have gone farther (IMHO, o'course).
