The Outpost Cafe / The Coverdale controversy continues...

...and apparently he's pulled out all the stops to refute the claims. There's a line here that cuts real deep - well, at least down to the scalp...

I saw UFO twice in the '70s - both times I went into the show with visions of Schenker and his white "V" whizzing through the extended solos in "Rock Bottom" and "Lights Out". What I got was an overweight, sweaty Brit in a leather outfit!  >:( Both shows directly followed a patented Schenker vanishing act, and Chapman had been called in. I remember sitting in the second row, yelling "Where's Schenker?" at Phil Mogg, who responded, (on mic) "He's dead". In between these two shows I had another opportunity to see them locally, but sold my tickets as I was bedridden with mononucleosis. Yep, you guessed it, he showed up and played a blistering set. I may never get over that one.

Hogs cannot be trusted. They are omnivorous and cannibalistic.

Time to post the Barney Frank pic again...

Still have most of mine - like most stuff from when we were kids, they've gotten ridiculously expensive due to the collector's market. My fave from the collection:

Now where were we? Oh yeah, cheap bass strings. That's the ticket

Well, after that story, I can certainly think of a couple uses for those cheap strings if they don't sound so great. >:(

my "kid" is now 19 and at 12 she too developed an anxiety disorder.  I could have blamed the asthma meds she had taken for ten years.  Instead we looked inward and discovered that both mine and my wife's families had several members with varying degrees of the same thing - sorry, heredity.

Bingo. Same deal here. A long line of worriers on both sides. BTW, the "tween" years are when these things tend to pop up.

Here's an interesting anxiety related story. My wife was getting pains in her chest awhile back so we went to the doc. He couldn't find anything out of whack except a minor sound when he listened to her heart which he said could be a mitral valve prolapse - nothing serious, but he wanted us to have a cardiologist take a look. The cardiologist did an echo and confirmed the diagnosis. In conversing about it, he imparted to us that in 25 years he had not seen a single MVP patient who didn't have anxiety issues. So there you have (apparently) a small, generally harmless physical defect that runs hand in hand with an accompanying emotional problem. (The pains she was having were stress-related, but not really connected with the MVP in any way.)

Gibson Basses / Re: Hipshot Supertone 2 point replacement bridges

I don't know how I could have missed that part.  I picked up my new glasses today so it must have been my old prescription...  ;)

I e-mailed Hipshot today, and got a response back in relatively short order:

>>Thank you for your question about our new Two Bridges.
You are in luck with the years that you have stated. It is for the 1967-1973 years and should be a direct replacement for your bass. I own a 1969 EB0 and it has been a blessing as the silk winding had always been a problem. We have contacted HD music to ask if they would include the years on their auction.
Hope this helps, let us know if there are any other questions.<<

It's not your eyes, they updated the listing - you may rest easy... for now ;D

Just got my "74 Orange 120 back from Andy Fuchs after a reasonably extensive "return to stock" de-modding. It sounds awesome for bass or the "other" stringed instrument. Now I just need an Orange cab to go with it...
