I tried to watch it - I think the producers are really pushing the envelope for poor Daryl  :o  The Cheap Trick show was almost as bad as the one with Billy Gibbons - some types of music just don't fit in with Daryl's skill set....

I will just chime in here and say that you sometimes learn the most by being pushed well outside of your comfort zone, or, no pain - no gain  ;)

I reluctantly took a big promotion a little over a year ago and I have to say my superiors seem to live by this creed.  While the stress level at times has been nightmarish I will be the first to admit that all of the pain has certainly bought much gain.

"......Make sure you have a decent caulking gun......."

If Pilgrim is anything like me he probably has a half dozen somewhere in his garage  :-[  Invariably when I need one I've properly stored mine and can't find them X months or years later so I buy yet another one.  I do have a couple of the commercial grade guns and Dave is right - when you have a lot to do or  really stiff caulk a good gun is worth it.

There's roofers sealant that is a butyl based product.  I use siliconized acrylic - the brand I like is Alex - both HD and Lowes carry it.  Pilgrim I think the bronze color is what you're after.  This stuff is paintable but I think it will last long enough unpainted to serve it's purpose.

Depending on the brand of caulk why don't you just pick up a couple of tubes of the gray, black or bronze color and just "schmear" a coat of the color stuff over the white?  I've never cared for the clear, non 100% silicone caulks, as they all tend to yellow or get cloudy pretty fast.

Saw a teaser the other night for Cheap Trick appearing on Daryl's House -Tom Petersson was playing this bass in the commercial.  Some of the guests he has on the show make we scratch my head - Billy Gibbons comes to mind.  The show is up on the site - episode 75.

Gibson Basses / Re: Would you buy a copy of the Gibson Bass Book?

Have you looked at getting this to Amazon?  They have 50 bazillion titles available - if you got it to them you might sell a more than you expect. That and missus Lightyear has a close and personal relationship with them -  I could have my book delivered with our daily drone drop.... :-[

Very nice touch leaving Bill on as a moderator - seems fitting somehow...

Too sad and way too damn young.  RIP Doc.

I don't know how I missed this thread over the past few days. I did notice in his most recent posts that his prognosis had changed and I was hoping (and still am) that he could pull this one out of the fire. I will miss Doc's humor, his wealth of knowledge and most of all the way he played the hand he was dealt.
If it isn't too presumptuous of me, I would like to propose that we rename the "Projects and Mods" forum in his honor, "in perpetuity", as Dennis Miller would say.

Agreed.  "Doc's Place" or "Doc's Shop" perhaps

Well, cr*p!!  Why is it the really nice guys who get dealt the worst hand?  Truly sad news.  Gentle journeys Bill.

In other news poor Gwyneth is experiencing another onslaught of attacks from the press:

I didn't know wearing a bra caused cancer, guess I'm going topless from now on.  ;D

Huh, my guess is that she believes the bra bit because it seems that she's forgone the use of them for some many years or so it appears......

That's probably it. Even so, if they can pull it off, why not?

Same thing I was thinking.  The original audience is now much older and feeling nostalgic and they have money to burn.  This will prop up record sales and the merch business at the shows will probably do a bang up business.  If they run this thing right it's pretty lucrative retirement plan.

Bill's Shop: Projects, Mods & Repairs / Re: buzz that I cant kill
« on: May 14, 2016, 07:32:55 PM »
The title of this topic somehow bothers me  :)

Keep in mind that I'm sure my wife has been trying to kill me for years, has been unsuccessful and has probably uttered this phrase more than once to herself...  :o

Simple test for the ground wire thing - just clamp a jumper, short piece of wire with an alligator clip at each end (Radio Shack was good for something), between your cavity ground and the bridge - if you lose the buzz it's the wire itself or the solder joint or mechanical contact at the bridge.
