Bill's Shop: Projects, Mods & Repairs / Hipshot ultralite help needed
« on: September 23, 2015, 02:03:22 AM »
I've bought some used Hipshot ultralite keys to cure some neck dive on my bass, but i need to reverse them.
I'd like to know if any of you could confirm that the needed allen key measure is 1/16" which is hard to find around here.
I've tried with a friend who works with HD, but when we found the supposedly right key it was too hard to turn and i'm afraid of rounding out the screw. i was told there's possibly locktite under the screw so i should heat it up....but i'd then risk to melt the plastic washer in the Key.
Any suggestion would be appreciated.

I've found a set of Fender Custom shop J pickups. The seller say it's the old version from the '90, without logo, with rounded pole pieces and with a different color of brass plates. does any of you guys know anything about this?

I'm also looking at a couple of J pickups from an '85 Japanese Fender bass, do you know how to recognize them?

Guy's, i'm moving a Model G from my Fenderbird to an SX jbass.
I had the pickup wired to a DPDT switch to use it in parallel/singel/serie. Now i would do the same on this bass but i'm installing a bridge pickup also, in the hope to archive a J-like sound. I'm not sure of the wiring so if anybody could help me before i get other components i'll be thankfull.
My doubt is that, in the attached wiring diagram, without the second pickup, the hot wire from the Model G goes to the side socket:

while in the other, with two pickups, it goes to the central...:

PS: no tone switch...

Bass Amps & Effects / 2x12 for my Marshall Superbass head
« on: July 22, 2014, 07:52:43 AM »
So i finally got my 4x12 Marshall fridge sold, great cab but to big, loud and heavy.
Now i need a smaller cab and was thinking of a 2x12 or 2x10. A friend of mine has an empty 1922 Marshall cab he'll let go for cheap, does anybody know if it would be worth filling it with some bass speaker, and which, or would it sound too thin being a guitar cab?? Anyone?

Listening to the Deep Purple tribute album Re-machined ( http://www.myfavouritemagazines.co.uk/music-bookazines/classic-rock-presents-re-machined-a-tribute-to-deep-purple/ ) I also dicovered a new supergroup that, i think, could be pretty interesting...or not?....:

The Outpost Cafe / RIP Adam Yauch - MCA

I know many of you might not care about the Beastie Boys, but they've sure made some change in music history and MCA was also (first of all) the bands bass player.

RIP.
