The guy selling that bass bought it as part of a lot of three Exploiters that were sold in a questionable-looking auction that turned out to be 100% legit. Think he paid five grand or something.

They also used to think smoking was healthy. Pay attention to your body. It will tell you what to do.

"In many ways,  Wooten picked up where Jaco Pastorius left off when he died in 1982."

LMAO. Wrong on the facts straight out of the gate. And why only electric players? For shame!

Amazing photos. Not only from a technical standpoint, but also because I'm probably related somehow to the skiff captain in frame #14.

Another '72 Earthwood guy here. I hunted for this bass for 10 years and am glad I held out. The acoustic volume, tone and projection is unequaled. It kicks a huge amount of ass.

That's not to say my head can't be turned. I just grabbed an old, probably pre-war German upright for short money that has me bewitched. The Earthwood is more aggressive. But the upright shakes the pictures on the walls.

You're a brave man, Shawn, a very brave man. Outing yourself like this here.   There is not really that much than can be done about having witnessed a Vanilla Ice concert, the damage to a young boy's psyche is permanent.  :-\ Alembics are just a symptom.  ;D  But to redeem yourself: Did you at least like MC Hammer better?

Believe me, I hesitated for quite a while before hitting the Post button. The Los Lobos story is what convinced me to go for it. And yes, I must admit that I enjoyed the MC Hammer portion of the evening most of all. Hindsight is a brutal, brutal thing.

FYI, I am in Alembic rehab -- sold them all -- and my current infatuation is a plywood German upright of indeterminate age. So dort!

My son's is much cooler. Los Lobos, free show in the park, Albany NY.

"Hello, little girl. What are you for Halloween this year?"

"Lemon meringue pie."

I feel bad for all those people who worked in that building, and for the guy's family, who came home to find their house burned down.

They didn't come home to find their house burned down. From what I heard he set the house on fire with them in it. Fcuk him for that, and we'll sort out the rest of his evil shit later.

Never played an F50, so I can't comment.
I do have a line on a local B30 or B50 with hard case for $800 or less that, if you worked out a deal with the seller and paid for gas and shipping, I'd go fetch for you. All I'd want is a chance to do a write-up on a head-to-head comparison between the Earthwood and the Guild in my own home. Message me for details if you're interested.
