I was concerned about that but the bridge I'm modding is available as a Fiver.  Allparts makes a nice 3/2 headstock neck with rosewood board.  I have one around somewhere.
Well that pretty much answers two of the questions I had regarding the feasibility of a 5-string version. I'll be sending an email sometime over the weekend when I've sorted out all my thoughts.

I've got a Helix 5-string fretless. Nice and comfortable body shape to play and I like how it looks!

However the side dots are in the wrong place for a fretless (they are where they would be on a fretted bass between the frets rather than where the fret would have been), the bridge difficult to adjust and the Alumitone Pickups while having a good range and sounding clear are very low output. Also the finish isn't particularly good considering the list price...

I've heard that the inconsistencies in output, the position of the side dots on the fretless models and the bridge design have been addressed on the more recent models, but I would still want to try one before buying. When they are good they have the potential to be awesome, however with the issues that mine has it's just an averagely made bass with a weird design.

Found this thread via TalkBass.

Firstly awesome work. These are the nicest looking T-Birds I've seen for a long time, and great to see all the work you put in to arrive at the current version.

So I have a question: I would really like to order one of these, but at the moment pretty much everything I do requires a 5-string bass. So what I would like to know is if you would be able to make a 5-string version? I realise that it's going involve sourcing a suitable neck and a new body routing template which of course will be reflected in the cost. Anyway if this is something you are interested in building, I am 100% interested in buying!
