Gibson Basses / Tbird 5 question
August 19, 2011, 11:53:21 AM
I got offered a trade on a bass I know little about, a Gibson Tbird 5.  Im hoping you guys could help me with a few questions..
* Was this ever offered as a non-studio version or were they all studio 5s
* Anyone ever see a factory bass with a flame paint job
* Im being told its a CS, um no...  No doc, no cert, no decal - Thoughts
* Lastly whats the realistic retail on one of these..

Like I said, I've never even held one of these.

Thanks, Kevin

Hey Bill - I hope you enjoyed the bird...  Guys - this bass has "that" tone...  For Bill to move a 'Bird, he had to have found something even deadlier...  Soooo, Bill, fest up, whachu buyin..  LOL

BAZ - Did you see my Tbird article in Premier, you're in it..

Ray - Did you see the pix? Theyre your basses...

Price wise this is about 300.00 low.  I see a ton of these move in retail circles at 5200-5300 for really nice 100% examples.  I'd blow mine out for 4500.00, it aint as nice (but its nice) and has a wrong case..

I just did a full column on this in my series at Premier Guitar Magazine.  Just submitted yesterday too!

Gibson Basses / To all you Tbird guys
June 05, 2011, 05:46:38 PM
I want to thank ALL of you guys who submitted pix for the upcoming series in Premier Guitar on Gibson basses.  The Tbird article which covers 1963 thru 2011 was submitted along with every picture that was not blurry you guys sent.  My eds will select the pix to be used based upon quality, coolness and column space.  The next in line is about the Gibson EB series. I hope you all enjoy and I'd like to issue a sincere thanks for your help.

FYI - I only used pix subbed by this forum.

That bass should sell at 4000-4200.  7000 - wow he's worse than me..

Ohhhh  - The big Treena bust came when she posted pix of one of my basses that I sold to Craig Brody of Guitar Broker and she had a pix of his pool in the shot.  Dope..

Oh..  Tom has 2 Ric basses in the collection - Both will be discussed in my column..  He has a 60 or a 61 4000 in FG and he's owned it for about 40 years.  He also has that "Custom" neck pickup only bass.  The bass is a stripped 4001 from 72.  It has a swimming pool under the guard.  Tom says the bass is just deadly and has a distinct tone..

HOLY SHEET!  I forgot about her.  She used pictures of MY basses and said they were hers.  The whole thing came to a head when she posted a pic of a bass with a very distinct battle scar and I sent a pic of me using the bass, literally the night before....  Total BS artist...

BTW - Look for my interview of Tom Petersson along with a COMPLETE photo essay of his collection in an upcoming article in my column in Premier Guitar Magazine..

BTW BTW - I also just bought 2 tour used Tbirds from Tom...
