just got me one of those too.(along with a 320 too) IMO, 370's great heads. the last one that i owned was way back in '75, and my new aquisition is a '75 as well:

i can relate to PBG's ordeal, but fortunately my results turned out much better.
three years ago, i took my 14 year old yorkie (Max) to a very reputable intensive/emergency care vet for a serious pancreatitus issue. many vets thought it was one of the worst cases that they'd ever seen, and due to his age and the severity of his ailment, they said it was probably not worth it to try and treat him.  but since Maxwell was the most bitchen dog i'd ever met, i felt he deserved it, and prayed that if he showed signs of not wanting to live, he'd let me know. fortunately, the ICU was only 10 minutes from my house so i'd go in an check up on him twice a day. everytime i went in, he perked up and acted happy to see me.  i wasn't very impressed with their care (@ $100/day) until i started complaning, and then got to know a few of the nurses there that understood my concerns about how they were treating him, and giving him meds and fluids on schedule. after that, his care was excellent. 3 weeks (and a $10K bill!) later i was able to bring him home for a complete recovery. he lived another 2 years of a happy and healthy life before he died of old age, but after that ordeal, his nickname was M10K.

good luck with your kitty. i hope it all turns out well for you. dealing with vets can be a bitch at times.

that bach looks familiar. 

funny, i scratchbuilt one like that in 1995 for one of my customers, back when i had my shop. it was a great sounding bass.

i originally wanted a burst jag, and would love to have one to go with my heavily modded black one. (i wouldn't mind having a 'shorty' too). when i was looking for one, all i could find was black (which i dig) and hot rod red (which i don't).

mods: one piece maple block/bound neck, dimarzio ultrajazz bass pickups with modded (radiused) pole pieces, EMG BTC (bass & treble peamp) running on 18V, USA AV RI bridge & knobs, CTS pots, switchraft jack, res-o-lite tuning keys, and all slide switches lowered 1/8".

but i actually prefer using my '66 EB2D. IMO, the bridge pickup (mini humbucker under the rear cover) adds alot more versatility:

well, it's a bolt-on neck, so it's not going to really sound or feel like the real thing. i seriously doubt that the mudbucker sound like the gibson's, but that could also be a good thing, as the gibson's has a TON of low end, but that's about all.

that said, i do love my '68 EB2 and '66 EB2D.

for making new pearloid inlays that are too white match the original ones, i used 'TransTint' liquid tint dyes on new pearloid, mixed with water in a glass to dilute it, heated up in a microwave just below boiling. drop the inlay in the dye until it's color matches. i use a mix of amber and brown (and sometimes a tiny bit of green if necessary). i've had to replace missing block inlays in several vintage jazz bass necks this way and it was indistinguishable from the adjacent originals. needless to say, a dot inlay is much easier. i just cut the dots out with a harbor freight hole punch. i don't see them listed on their site anymore, but they are available elswhere for about $30.

on a similar note, and not to take away from the excellent and very reasonable service that Penta is providing for you,  i found some NOS ('79-'80) maple 34" scale gibson set-neck blanks on ebay for a really good deal. it seems that they are fairly plentiful since two different sellers have quite a few of them available. they already have the truss rods in them too and were only $39 each. i bought two and they are very nice. i'm going to build a 34" chambered scale les paul bass and an EB3L (or possibly an RD artist) out of them. i was thinking of using my '69 EB-1 for a template, and build one of those out of one, but with a 34" scale maple neck on it, i think it would be far to small of a body and be very unbalanced to play on a strap due to it's body shape.
when i do build an EB1, it's going to have a 32" scale and a honduras mahogany neck with two graphite rods in it.

i removed the top strap button on mine (filled the hole and touched it up with an airbrush), and relocated it in the 'vox' position.  it balances very well now.
i first tried it with the a stap button mounted in the upper left neck plate mounting hole, but found that with the button on the back of the bass, it helped with the balance, but made the bird lean a bit forward and away from my body, so for me, i prefer it closer to the edge of the bass's centerline.
