Gibson Basses / Re: Les Paul Bass on Pawn Stars

I knew you were going to ask.  I really can't remember.  Was high I think around $1,700.  Wasn't interested so didn't pay attention.

I was there back at the end of April and fondled that bass.

Could be a '60 - '61 pu cover and/or pu if it was originally black and not painted.

Oh wait. That's not necessarily a Hemi right? You got the 6 barrel carb tho right? I haven't got a total handle on all the technical jargon but like em just the same. Hope you're enjoying the whip on this fine day :)

It is just a straight 4 barrel.  The six barrel is about a $3,000 upgrade.  With the Shaker, you can't see the carb anyway, so to me not worth the cost or the hassle keeping them tuned.  If I remember, you do add about 15 more HP with the six barrel though.

And Lowend1 explained the terminology perfectly.  Like the 6 barrel option names being different, color names were different between the 'cuda and Challenger.  My color is actually called Tor Red, even though everyone knows it as the Dodge name Hemi Orange.  Same paint code EV2.

I bought it restored.  I've done a few minor things like the trunk interior, but knew better not to start one from scratch yet.  Found on Craigslist in the Bay Area 4 years ago, hence the name Gracie.

Rereading the lyrics you posted, if you look at it from a religious perspective, the lady and the gold represent false gods and idols made of gold used to buy your way into heaven.  Enter the piper (Jesus or perhaps insert your favorite religion), as a different pathway to entering heaven.  The "tune will come to you at last" is hearing the piper's tune in choosing that over what the lady with the gold has to offer.

Or maybe not.

I like Mustangs and Camaro's of that period.  But a tad more passionate about the Mopars:

For those scoring at home, the Flying V went to Norway via New Jersey, the Thunderbird went near Cleveland, OH, the Dan Armstrong went to NYC and the Lakland went to California.  No takers on the vintage Gibsons.  Someone from Italy wanted me to quote shipping on the EB-2C.  Other than that, just a lot of watchers.  Not going to re-list if they don't sell.  At least not for awhile.

My wife comes from Kentucky... that's nearly in Ohio...
I actually live and work in Kentucky, so that's even better.  Near Cincinnati, so that is the geographical center.

Bruce, I notice you're keeping the active ones, 5er Les Paul Standard, Bongo and the EMG pupped Flying V ... What kind of horrible 9 volt trail is that?
Actually the Flying V is already sold to someone in Norway.  Keeping the Les Paul since it is my only 5 string.  And keeping the Bongo as it is my main player at 18 volts.  Get twice the jolt!  Also keeping the Victory standard fretless since it will be my only fretless.

Hey, now we can start an Ohio bassists club!

But seriously here's wishing you the best of health. I'm now over 5 years cancer free.

Congrats on your 5 years.  Where in Ohio are you?

Thanks for all the feedback.  I do get the MP reference too.
