Wow! What a blast from the past. Haven't seen one in years but remember the discussion that went on in the Pit about it.  Sort of like a build by committee. So of course you get tort :) Yeah, I still regret not buying at the time.

Fender Basses / Re: Fender HM iv bass

Thanks BeeTL. I'll pass it along.  The bass has an odd TBX tone pot like this, but the wiring may be the same.

Fender Basses / Fender HM iv bass

HM for Heavy Metal. But it seems they missed the market.
A friend just got one of these. MIJ in 1989. It needs a bit of work but should be salvageable. They were only made for two or three years and Fender seems to have forgotten about them, said they couldn't find the SN (but it's on TheGuitarDater ). Does any one have a wiring diagram? Or any literature?

Here's a pic of one

Thanks

I've seen this kind of misalignment in Fenders about a hundred times and I've always been able to correct it in one quick move. That's a 2-second fix, no tools needed.

Enlighten us. What's the problem and what's the fix?

I saw Leo Kottke in the mid 90s in a small venue in Philly. Front row seat, center. He was having a good night. Liked to tell stories. One of the best concerts of a lifetime.

Saw Fripp and the League of Crafty Guitarmen a bit later.

12 guys that play like one. And one guy that plays like 12.

That reissue looks intriguing. Thanks

FZ reused that piano line on Little House I Used to Live In

Dang, first I've seen TYA mentioned in ages. I had Cricklewood Green on the other day.

I rewind pickups at $50 per coil. I am located in Norway and shipping might cost a bit, so you are probably better off if you find someone near you. I've done a few mud rewinds, both 'downscaling' and vintage spec. At this very moment I'm winding one I will try to match with a classic P bass in neck position.

Making you The Mudbucker Proxy ?

Whaaat?  I hate when that happens.  Why buy it just to shut it down?

When they bought the company, they bought GB's patents, not just the name.  Genz Benz fades out, Fender announces "Rumble Reinvented". No coincidence.

Lets hope they keep their hands off MarkBass
