The Outpost Cafe / Re: Sad David Johansen news

David Johansen, one of a kind as a teen I just loved the sloppy rebelliousness of the NY Dolls and as I got older David's solo efforts. The music will continue to influence future generations.

R.I.P. Joey.  Badginger, One of my all time favorite bands, this hits pretty hard. I got meet Joey in 2017 at a story teller show, he was affable and generous with his time
In the early 80's I got to know Tommy a bit and I treasure those memories. Day After Day Live is well worth a listen and in permanent rotation in my van's cd player. Thanks for all the music Pete, Tommy, Mike and Joey.

Congratulations! Let's see some more pictures!

I've gotten to play one. I'm reasonably impressed, it's a well built playable bass. My biggest complaint is that I don't think poplar is suited to a sunburst finish, it frankly looks cheap.  Solid colors are a much better choice.  I'll do a video at The House of Guitars when I get a chance.

Follow Robs advice and you should be good to go 👍🏻

Have you given thought to the Stew Mac truss rod rescue kit? It's a very simple procedure that works great on Gibson truss rods.

Fender Basses / Re: Fender GoldFoil

A Jazz bass even I could love. I've wanted one for a while now, a great unique take on the Jazz Bass. I absolutely love the one pickup and it's location. While I really like the gold foil I'm more than tempted to put a Thunderbird pickup in it.  ;D

I've been super impressed with instruments coming oout of Indonesia, Epiphone,  Guild,  Squier etc. Imho similar to the golden age of Japanese guitar manufacturering. I hope Fender doest get to carried away with pricing and has features to justify the $599 MAP.

So good you built it twice! Beautiful as always Rob, from not so humble beginnings, a pretty ambitious first bass.  Thanks for posting your work 👍🏻

Happy New Year, Scott!
But of course 😉

I just picked up this '69 EB0 at my place of work,  The House of Guitars. I can't pass up a Gibson in the wild.😁 https://youtu.be/6-7bjvXKl1g?si=3Th6Yj6hegfu8Nz4

No doubt about lacquer requires a fair amount of care to keep it pristine, it's a losing battle really.  My 1976 Ibanez Destroyer with it's heavy poly finish looks practically brand new.

Quote from: uwe on November 18, 2024, 05:44:59 PMTrust Scott to get an overdriven/distorted sound even out of a fretless hollow-body!

I might not be in his kiss,

but it's certainly in his hands!
I am what I am!
