I was listening to the sound clips of the Jo with chisonics and think I fell in love. Are they available in a skyline Jo? I'm guessing usa only but not sure. I'm also curious about the deign,  the single coil chi's seem to sound fuller or rounder than the Fralins or Lakland single coils. I know the decade comes with them but I prefer the pickup location on a jazz I think  as I'm afraid of the decade sounding too muddy  but I'm totally open to opinions from anyone who's played or owns basses with chisonics as I never  heard them in person.

Fender Basses / Re: Got a new one.....

Congrats
looks like it's got active electronics? I had a P special almost some  years back but it was passive. If I remember the body is a little smaller than a regular P bass.

Congrats
I agree, too good to pass on and white with tort guard to boot. I'm jealous.
I also like that it's passive, is there any difference in tone from stock single coils other than no 60 cycle hum?

Other Bass Brands / color options on a skyline Glaub
January 21, 2009, 08:48:08 PM
When I was on Laklands web they show only black or sunburst under finishes but when I was looking on bass central they have skyline Glaubs also in CAR and natural. I'm confused.
Also any online dealer recommendations like a smaller dealer.  There use to be a small dealer in the  Chicago area who would go to Lakland for me and walk through and tell me what they had in stock. I don't think he's around anymore, this was a few years ago.

Fender Basses / Re: What pickups for my Precision?

Chiming in here kinda late but you might want to contact  Lakland about there made in house Bob Glaub pickups and see if they sell them. I read some great reviews on them. They're supposed to sound like a 64 Fender pickups.

I'll probaly stay with the black it came with for now but I im thinking white would be cool.
This is the newest model year (2005) Fender I've ever owned and im  impressed at what a great bass it is, killer tone and thats comming from a P man note my 78P in my pic. Seems like fender is improving all the time.

Fender Basses / Re: Repacement J pups ?

There's a  linear humbucker jazz  replacement made by Fralin in the past and I think still made by Duncan. Best choice if you want to fatten up the tone.  Under the cover the pup is split side by side like a P bass just next to each other.

"I think you can do everything with a four string"

yeah I pretty much agree infact after ten or so years using fivers im going back to my two fender four bangers. I'm not selling my two fivers (one is fretless) but they're going in the closet for now. Four does get it done just fine.
