Good to hear someone else likes Coronado's

I think the Gretsch bridge is much better sounding than the original
The original is very heavy and the rubber saddles was a mistake on the designer's part

I did some things to get it to sound better
-Stock bridge is too heavy , I replaced it with a Hofner or a ebony archtop
-pickups are weak , needs to be remagnetized or given to Novak and get rewound ,repotted and remagnatized
-tailpiece is too heavy and doesnt allow 34inch scale strings to be used , I made a tail/strap pin that allows 34" strings

Personally if I was going to use mine everyday , I would replace the stock pickups with some mini humbuckers
I have some Vintage Vibe that would work really well too

If anyone needs one I have a spare Coronado pickup

Acoustic basses usually have piezo's
I have 3 basses with piezos and have owned another 4
Piezo's are not perfect , but they can sound great

If you have a nice bass already , I would keep it and add a hollowbody and an acoustic
You will never find one bass that does everything well
But on the other hand I have over 20 in my collection

The Gretsch copy would be nice , personally I am after one of the Ibanez AFB 200
Have 2 of the agb 140 one with the stock pu and the other with a Nordstrand Big single

I like a bass with lots of bottom
I have been experimenting and really like the sound of a single coil neck pickup and totally hollow body

Hollowbodies are a unusual and distinct sub group of basses
Fat , short sustain and prone to feedback
Center blocks helped solve the feedback , but made them sound like more like solid bodies

Wood or brass saddles ?
Will it be an exact copy or more like MPU's version with the brass bottom plate?
Would it be cheaper if I didnt have it plated?

Its a neck thru , with a mirror and white pickguard
My father and brother are lefties but my mother and I (thank God !!!) are normal

I was looking at a bass with that bridge recently
It was on a Japanese Greco EB 3 with a bolt on neck , it must have been a very early one or one of the cheaper models
Sorry I havent been saving photos recently (had 60GB of bass pics on my harddisk and it crashed)

Somebody asked me to keep an eye out for a lefty ESP Thunderbird
One popped up on the Japanese Auction

Also a Japanese setneck Epiphone with nickel pickups popped up with a Buy It Now for $400

The 2 that I got are single coil
I think single coils sound better than humbuckers, especially at the neck
But the do fit the standard HB routing
With the Charlie Christian blade pickup he includes a pickup surround

I have 4 of Hammon's pickups and they are nice
I think a single Dark Star pickup at the neck would work really well on this project
Just finished installing one of Hammon's creations into a EB2 copy and it sounds great
