Quote from: doombass on March 28, 2025, 02:07:24 AMMark King with an EB-3 is sure a rare sighting.

It most certainly is, although Mark King never hid his admiration for Bruce, including recording "I Feel Free" on his solo album.

Good to see Phil Manzanera as well...one of the few staples of the glorious days of UK music still standing.

Quote from: Dave W on March 30, 2025, 02:18:16 AMI notice that the over-$2K neck throughs all say that they won't be restocked, so maybe these are old stock.

My understanding is that these are some kind of a test run. Test for what exactly, I have no clue but one and done. Not old stock though, evident if you look at the serials which give 2024 as the production year.

Quote from: Basvarken on March 11, 2025, 10:21:28 AMI think they used to be bigger in The Netherlands and Germany than they ever were in their homeland. Their Rockpalast concert from 1978 is legendary. Made them huge stars overnight, in Europe.

Something to be said about their popularity in various parts of Europe. Their live album even got published here (former Yugoslavia) at the time. I still own it and consider it one of my favourite live albums of all times.

Meanwhile, my wife who grew up in the States had absolutely zero idea about them... :)

Other Bass Brands / Re: What happened to Peavey?

Quote from: Dave W on February 09, 2025, 08:46:12 AMWhoa! I can see how my post wasn't clear enough. Peavey has only one bass guitar left in its lineup, the cheapie Milestone, and only two guitars: the Milestone and the HP 2 (successor to the Wolfgang).

From what I've seen/heard, a Czech-built Cirrus is on its way...they've been announcing them for a couple of years now...

Quote from: Alanko on February 09, 2025, 07:42:27 AMI would say Trace were the British Peavey! I've seen them in rehearsal spaces and gig venues quite often. They usually have unhelpfully voiced graphic EQs, built in compressors... the weirdest ones have backlight bulbs and are coveted in rat fur. Built tough (usually unserviced for two decades and frequently thrashed). A loud vanilla amp. I've never encountered a signature Trace tone or sound. Versatile(ish) clean headroom. No grind or grit to them at all.

IDK. To me, TE were far more high-end than Peavey. I never found a Peavey bass amp that I liked and also never encountered a British-built Trace that I didn't enjoy. To me, they were the amp of the '80s.

Sooner or later one of those crazy TE valve heads will come my way...

Quote from: uwe on January 24, 2025, 09:33:05 PMAh, everyone's favorite second league prog band!

Given what most people consider to be the premier league prog, I'll stay away... :-X ...far away.

Strangely enough I only like the first two Camel albums. They've pretty much lost me after that.
