Where in NS are you? I'm in Halifax.

Same.  I bought that Minglewood fretless off you some time ago.  It's been rehomed for a while now.

Gibson Basses / Burgundy NR Thunderbird

It's been a while since I've lurked...but I've added a broken in NR in burgundy.... I missed the 2011 I had and found a nice local price here in Nova Scotia.  It's already experienced some checking and that nitro fade where an arm would rest.  Fretboard looks a bit dry.
Couple of beauty marks in there too, but it's a nice player.  Still tweaking the set up a bit.

I found it took very little adjustment and it became second nature in no time.

Other Bass Brands / NBD: Dingwall Lee Sklar

I rolled the dice and grabbed a red Sklar Dingwall.  Being Canadian it was kind of a bucket list thing to have a bass from one of the CDN builders (Fbass or Dingwall)...and I wanted to just have one bass that did everything I wanted it too now that everything is just about gone.

It's quite an incredible instrument.  Sheldon thought of everything on this....all the tones in active or passive are fantastic, the B and E strings REALLY stand out compare to the standard 34" inch scale basses.  I'm not a tall lanky guy at all and have no issues at all playing the 37" scale.   The strap positions when standing up actually bring it closer.

Why no talk of Laserdisks and aurora borealis Les Pauls?  That's where I'm putting my money.

A nice 7200$ CDN after tax where I live. Yah, Gibson is right on the mark there.  LOL

Believe it or not, back in the days of Tom Wheeler and Jim Roberts, GP and BP occasionally gave a negative review to a product.

I also remember they'd review an album with some rating of the bass too.  If I recall, Rick Savage got a C- for Hysteria :P

Here's a Canadian band that's a favorite of mine...Big Wreck.  Great bassist too.   Insane guitarist that might not get the recognition he should being from Canada.

If it sounded really good I'd keep it as a mutt, but not at that price either.

Best buy where I'm at here in canada had a demo one for about 499US, the other one was about 599 and then there was a 5'er.  Can't say I was overly impressed with them tho.  They kinda had a cheap import feel to them in a way.

Maybe it's the Opti-grab 1.0....

At that price point I'd try a Lull Ament 'bird.

That transparent blue sure is nice...would it kill them to mix it up a bit on the bird finishes....
