Education has much to do with current trends. When I started in college, I think it cost $255 a quarter. Anyone who wanted an education could get one. Within limits, you could be whatever you wanted to be. Sky was the limit, as long as you worked hard and had talent.

The same education is now pretty expensive, resulting in sky high student loan amounts for the working class.

Added to that is a general disdain for education in many areas.

The whole "elitist" bullshit...

The current state of affairs sort of reminds me of Nero and the decline of Ancient Rome.

Successful change happens in small carefully controlled increments over time. Evolution rather than revolution.
My opinion...yours may vary. I'm uncomfortable with the chainsaw approach.

The first thing I remember in Econ 101 was analyzing tariffs, and how they were almost always bad for everyone except possibly the protected manufacturers.

The amps used to be pretty much bulletproof gear for the working musician. Never your favorite sound, but always a decent sound.

I like the 3 point, but the cheap stamped steel Fender design always works the best...

I used to gig one in the 80's...

It was enough with a mike in front of it...

To me it's karaoke if it's not live. That being said, my favorite band in town uses tracks.

We still play usually 3 50 minute sets. The enthusiasm gets harder to muster every year.

Three hours with no breaks?

I really liked how both Duane and Dickey soloed like jazz horn players

I like older country music because of the melodies, and sometimes well written songs.  In my mind "Crazy" is right up there with "Stardust"...a well written song with a great melody.
