Do you accept orders from Europe?
I need a black PG with a white Bird on it for my Bird from 2012.

Okay I got it: "The dirt keeps the funk!"

For sure it was a natural one! Otherwise it would have had an ebony fretboard.

I like it but the sunburst on the back looks realy weird.

Is that fretboard an original one? It looks like rosewood to me.

Just for comparison a picture of my tobaccoburst Ripper made in 1973.

That guy who does the demo of the bass is using a pick at the beginning of the clip. He also uses the front and the bridge pick up. Look at 0:24 when he use the Toogle-Switch to select the Bridge Pick Up.

I agree that it is not correct that we've been waiting decades for it but IMO it's a updated version of the EB-2 not a reissue.

The only problem is that I want one of these so bad!!!

@Denis: The Hiscox STD-EBP Case should do the job for you for a pleasing price. It fits the Ripper so it would fit the G-3.

You're not going to believe this but you're right!  ;D

We call them "Hamburger", "Frankfurter" an the people from Vienna (Austria) are called "Wiener". Curious, ain't it?

Ok the guys in Frakfurt got some.  The only GC I know is session music in Hamburg and they've got betweenwhiles up to three Gibson basses in the shop. You have to be a extrem lucky guy to be in the right place at the right time to get one. Most of the shops got not even one of these instruments. Sorry I'm very disappointed by the german GC's. I don't ask for the full range of Gibson Basses to be displayed but a few of their classics should be in stock at every big GC.
I would answer Marco that this basses look great indeed but they sound even better.

Are you kidding me into self-frustration?! They've done those roadshows in Germany too - it's always all guitars ... Any question about basses would raise eyebrows only and establish the nerd factor of the questioner. Nein danke.

Fact! Don't ever ask in a german GC for Gibson Basses. The employees don't know anything about them and start treat you like a leper. Last week I was calling a GC and asked them if they could ship a Thunderbird to me to check it out (but mind I had payed the full price first before they would send it to my home). They said that they don't ship the bass because it's a Gibson and they are extremly rare. I start laughing and hung up the phone. That guy made my day.  ;D

Okay! Gibson stated that my Ripper was build in late 1973 at the Gibson Factory in Kalamazoo. She got (I name all my basses after girls) a very rare dark tobaccoburst finish. This finish was avaiable for the fretted version for the first time in 1975 and only 5 where made (offical). I think they made a few more but I was unable to find a Ripper who is as old as mine.

A few years ago I saw a video where Gene was using a Dark Tobaccoburst Ripper in Studio. He used it to record Sonic Boom.
