Gibson Basses / Re: Les Paul Bass (low impedance PUs) question
« on: December 05, 2021, 06:26:38 AM »
You need to come up with an unbalanced mic cable to use with the adapter. The shortest cable you can find (on the amp end) is more beneficial for the guitar than the bass but I still use one. The original Gibson chord had the transformer in the middle.

Nice!!!

The second guy that listed it on Craigslist, listed it with copies of pamphlets that I sent to Moonweasel who runs the Late Sixties Les Paul site (LSLP). He posted a page on my amp, the early low impedance guitars & owners manuals. The guy that had it listed for $500 must have barely  recovered his original purchase price if he sold it to Music Go Round.

Bass Amps & Effects / Gibson LP-12 at Music Go Round in Burnsville MN
« on: July 14, 2021, 11:21:20 AM »
I was told that this amp was listed for $200.00 on Craigslist locally. Then someone bought it and re-listed it for $500 or $550. Now I see it listed on Reverb at a local Music Go Round for $450.00. It's not in the greatest of shape, but 51 years later not many complete amps have survived........

Those are Maurader bridge pickups. I bought two on Reverb just like it with the protective film still on them.
My favorite score are the Les Paul Recording pickups, “For parts only, not working”. They sell them as defective because they have no ohm reading. 10 ohms isn’t much of a reading for a pickup these days. I’ve never found a bad one yet……

And yesterday this one came by:

I looked it up to see what it was selling for, nothing listed. It might have sold or too soon for listing. I still have mine with an early single coil bass pickup like the one used in the EB.

The Outpost Cafe / Re: So, what have you been listening to lately?

My mom loved him, so I grew up hearing plenty in the 70s (on Parrot Records). What a voice! Cool guy too. I don't seem to recall any scandals involving him in all these years.
.

My parents like his records also. I was shocked to see (maybe in a PBS special) that he was into blues music to the extent he was. It took a bit to get used to, but he was great!

Just noticed on the CME website, they are expecting more of these July 2021 in all colors but brown. Those are expected in 2022.

I’ve bought two of them, one to modify. Great basses! My Les Paul Triumph has been neglected since I bought these.....

Gibson Basses / Re: This NOS 20/20 neck...
« on: April 07, 2021, 07:19:48 AM »
I pulled this bass out for the first time in ages. Surprisingly, it was almost in perfect tune. I took it to practice & played it for almost 4 hours, played & sounded great! The neck finish has yellowed almost to a perfect match to the body. It even worked well with my wireless gizmo, being active I didn’t think it would....... Hard to believe it’s been over six years since I had the NOS neck installed! Time flys!
