Other Bass Brands / Re: Fender + bird = Fenderbride!

The one I got is the one in the middle, with the half pickguard. But I've got to admit that the one on top, the original Bach F-bird, looks really cool.

Other Bass Brands / Fender + bird = Fenderbride!

Gotta say, I've had a really nice day. Started with my son calling me up in the morning, telling me he sent a picture from an advertismen he'd seen on a site. It was a Bach Fenderbird. Red. Looked beautiful!
Son says, "Hey dad, if you want it, I'll get it for you". Of course I want it. Maple neck. 2 pups. Red. As sin!
So I tell him, you don't have to, I'll buy it myself. Then he tells me, "don't you remember you gave me your P-bass -65, and one of your Embassies. This one's on me".
So he bought it, for me. US dollars 180!The Fenderbird is 1 000 kilometers from here, down in Gothenburg. But my grandson lives there, so he's gonna pick it up on Sunday. Then it's another story to get it up to my place. Though that's very small troubles!
Ain't life grand!?!

Thanks, Ilan! I remember now that I've seen that bass before, but with it's full head. Ugly as... well, you know what. :o

Found this clip, where this bass shows at the very first seconds of the clip. Looks like a T-bird, but with a kind of Italian twist. What is it? Anyone in the know?
Think the bass player grooves in a nice, simple way, and gives the Pop Tops a good trampline bottom. Or?

The very first time I ever read the name Felix Pappalardi was when I bought the album Little wheel spin and spin, by Buffy Saint-Marie in -66. F P had arranged and was conducting the instrumental ensemble on one of the songs:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ShYrfnMMuW4
Really nice tune, I thought by then. Still do.

Next time I saw the name was in quite other circumstances. Cream. Disraeli gears. Strange brew. He wrote that song with his wife Gail Collins, and Clapton.

Those tunes are not worlds apart, but it was a different world anyhow, when Disreali geared. Right?

Now, you might be absolutely right if you're thinking I'm getting far, far away from the bottom of this-a-here original subject. But please, excuse me! Cause I really dig the style of Norman W R. But I also dig Wilko Johnson's playing style. And, while we're at Johnson, I'd like to point out that he's a really good writer, too. Like this here chapter, from his stay in India back in '69: https://books.google.se/books?id=16SeBAAAQBAJ&pg=PT120&lpg=PT120&dq=mr+kardoom&source=bl&ots=JDKqYkvQBA&sig=ACfU3U0WE6hcqeTSoEGkL_uqxIkTqK3LkA&hl=sv&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjrtNWryLjgAhVixcQBHSpwDgoQ6AEwAHoECAkQAQ#v=onepage&q=mr%20kardoom&f=false

By the way, concerning Dr Feelgood, the guitarist Wilko Johnson split from the band, a very long time ago. He's got a trio since several years. The bass player, Norman Watt Roy, who used to handle the bass in Ian Dury's Blockheads, is in my opinion one really great around the rock scene. If Wilko's band to be heard anywhere around your area, take the chance to hear a very good rock band.
Try this, for starters:

Sparko and his Grabber stood in the front line of Dr Feelgood of England, though he was, of course, overshadowed by now really gone singer Lee Brilleaux in his stage outfit, that looked like he'd passed out in it (and that in a ditch!), plus guitarist Wilko Johnson who really looked like a crazy sniper om amphetamines. Don't know whether they ever hit in the US, but I shure liked that band! Let's not forget drummer The Big Figure, a wall for any rock bass player to lean on.
This is -75, before Sex Pistols, and the rest.
Just one more thing that this video makes absolutely clear: Speeeed kills! (Even though it keeps you in style, fashionwise)

Gibson Basses / Re: Gibson at NAMM 2019

I get your point, Dave, and I understand that some things are necessary, to bring a price down. Only pity it doesn't make that pickguard a winner, in my eyes.

Think it's a pity Gibson ruined that beautiful bass with that ugly looking pickguard.

Second from the top is the one for me. Pup closer to the neck is the way I want it.

Beautiful! There seem to be room enough for a T-bird pup?
