The Outpost Cafe / Re: Alice Cooper doc on TV

Watching now - it's really good! I'm not even that big an Alice Cooper fan but really enjoying it. Dennis Dunaway playing one of those what I believe is an Airline Pocket bass in the early days.

Yeah, looks nice but given the non-original bridge & thumb rest I think your price is much more reasonable.

I was ranting about that too before I realized that her article is from early October 2014, so I deleted that part of my rant.
Here in the US we do month/date/year, so I think that 11.10.2014 means Nov. 10, so please reinsert your rant!  ;D

I can't take any article about Gibson basses and players seriously that doesn't give Jack Bruce more space than that.  He isn't much more than a footnote there.
She doesn't even realize that Jack Bruce died and that it was huge news in the bass world!  :o

Maybe having a Triumph in the pic will result in a reissue?

The Outpost Cafe / Alice Cooper doc on TV

There is a documentary (?) about Alice Cooper - "Super Duper Alice Cooper" - on VH1 classic tonight. I think it's new - looks like it will have archival footage. Just a heads-up! Looks like it will play again over the next couple of days if you missed it.

I would love to include myself in this more advanced group of people, except I have never been able to engage in much "disciplined, structured practice"...

One of the things that struck me about the video's understanding of music was that playing music entailed sight reading.

" first time I saw this special edition 4001S in person, at GC no less"

I'm pretty sure they are a GC exclusive.
Yeah, I remembered that after I posted but forgot to edit - busted!  8)

This tribute appeared on Facebook - though the article was a bit lacking but some interesting pics I haven't seen: http://www.daringaudio.com/bassist-profile-jack-bruce/

Thought I would post this pic here too - first time I saw this special edition 4001S in person, at GC no less, with 2 beautiful cousins!

I'm guessing it's meth related? Doing bad drugs, getting involved with messed-up people. I don't mean to stereotype meth users but... Shoulda just stuck with pot!

Bass looks GREAT in your photos! Love the gloss - hey, isn't that what the "glo" stands for?

I personally like the necks - I notice that they are different (most notably at the nut) but never to the point of impairing playability. But I know that differences like that are more or less problematic depending on the player. I wonder if where the bass sits in relation to the body is an important factor?

I love the look of the walnut, but if I were in the market I'd buy a 4001S.
I think I agree with you - the walnut does look cool though! Here's a better version of the pic:

Finally saw one of these in person, next to the limited edition 4001S discussed elsewhere and a nice 4003 - I was pretty blown away to see them all in a row at my local GC - glad they keep them up there out of reach of the unwashed hordes...
