One of the old Hi-Watts wouldn't be a bad thing, IMO...

If Marshall were really serious about bass amps they'd figure out some way to buy Genz Benz's Streamliner technology and stick a Marshal name on it.
If there is a point to be made for active basses then it is just that: being able to switch from one extreme sound to another. I'd add: retaining high-end sizzle without having to change strings every three hours. And the ability to compensate the sound of a so-so amp. Oh yeah, cutting through in the most difficult and adverserial circumstances, yet keeping the soundman happy.
None of the above compels me to play active, but I understand that someone else might be in a position where it makes sense.
Nothing ignorant about your question btw.
Are you going to leave the black as a primer? That's what I did on my Goth when I refinished it. Just sanded it down a little bit and started painting from there.
Anxious to see this one
Awesome! Can't wait to see the finished bass.
So far, so good.
Foreigner doesn't seem to get the respect it deserves, possibly due to the many member changes. It sold an incredible amount of records. The band had strong radio rock songwriting, good musicianship and one of the best rock vocalists ever. Lou Gramm definitely came from a Paul Rodgers influence but was, technically, a much better singer than Rodgers IMO.
Nice score on the neck! Can't wait to see it finished.
You can't beat a deal like that on an American P neck, even without good tuners.
