Bill's Shop: Projects, Mods & Repairs / Re: Low Z bass pickups

Welcome to the Outpost Victor!

The Gibson Lo-z has more clarity in the JCS.
In the Triumph sounds more dense.

Here's a short sample of the JCS with Gibson Lo-z, that I recorded after I had just built it in.

Hey David,

keep me/us posted on the progress you're making with the Lo-Z repro.
The pickup builder that I had found has withdrawn. He found out it is way over his head.

I think they're very beautiful basses.
But from what I've been told they don't sound quite as impressive as they look.

How about a "twisted" V - upper trad and lower reverse...?

(ok, back in my box... :P)

Believe it or not, Gibson  already built those...

The Z or Thunderbolt  :o

I came, saw and bidded. The three piece neck has this one escape the "no collecting for fins" clause, besides my two other Grabbers are fretless or have an alder body.

Haha, if that justifies it for you that's fine with us Uwe. Guess there a lot of more basses you're allowed to buy now!
I feel a Gibson Bass Book part 2 coming up

Yes I did.
But with BaCH that is no guarantee the pickup ends up in the right place  ;)

Honduran Mahogany is a protected species. As far as I know it is prohibited to even sell it.
Any guitar company who claims to use Honduran mahogany in new guitars is lying.

I miss the "shoulders" (where the neck meets the body) of the classic flying v shape.

I didn't say he killed music, just the CD as a media!

Which he didn't.
The music industry did it themselves.
Asking way too much money ever since the CD was introduced. Initially they said they had to keep the price high because they couldn't produce enough for the high demand of the market.
And they kept the prices way too high ever since.
No wonder people started sharing via peer to peer sites.

He didn't.
The music industry did that.
Music industry had no answer to download sites like Napster etc. They only thing they could come up with was complaining and suing.
Jobs did the music industry a huge favor by inventing iTunes. A Dollar per song. Brilliant.
