Bass Amps & Effects / practice amp question
« on: August 26, 2014, 03:16:54 PM »
need advice on buying a practice bass amp,

I am looking for a small amp so that I can let one of my students practice in his own room at school.

realistically it is going to be whatever  washes  on ebay  within a 10 mile radius of me for under £30.00,

but if anyone has any horror stories or gem-in-the-rough yarns that would help,  lay em on me ...

Eastbourne Airshow: very sedate flypast type display with two spitfires, and they didn't even break the 9 merlin record as one of the spits was a gryffon :(

There were 9+ (a Hurricane sneaked in) Merlins flying for the the Spitfire 60th at Duxford, and that Cat you saw was the same company - this one's the replacement...
I think the Shoreham tail-chase was the anniversary year too, and thinking about it I think it was billed as a Merlin tail-chase with hurricanes and a Buchon included, there was also  a weirdie that I was sure was a typhoon but turned out to be a really late model Spit with a similar chin intake

in my opinion the best Quireboys track was never released as a single, but it used to fill the dancefloor when I used to DJ  at a rock club in the early nineties

Quireboys were  sadly buried in the post GnR tidal wave of trashy rock, much like their fellow Londoners the (also brilliant) Dogs D'amour

really good band and nice guys to boot. their Bass player is Phil Mogg's nephew

Later this month we will have a very rare treat - the sound of eight Merlins on two aircraft, flying together for the first time in decades... one Canuck, one Brit, and I think there was talk of running up a third that is not yet airworthy, so that might make 12x3...  8) 8) 8) 8)   8) 8) 8) 8)   8) 8) 8) 8)

yeah following this story with interest, really looking forward to seeing them display together when they get to the south Coast this weekend,

Hoping the BBMF will fly them with as many little freinds as possible so we can hear 10+ merlins at the same time, the closest I've heard to that so far was a 9 spitfire tailchase at Shoreham a few years ago

They had a bunch of home built experimental planes there. I don't know why this one was sitting on it's nose
thats a Rutan VariEze, a cool 80's kit built design from Bert Rutan , the guy who designed SpaceShipOne (and two) the nose wheel is buried in the nose , its meant to sit like that
they are really awesome bits of kit, that revolutionised the home build Pane market, when I went to Oshkosh as a kid there were hundreds of em

wow, lovely version of Sloe Gin, I take it that's Tim Curry of Rocky Horror fame, is the rest of his solo stuff as bluesy?
